If we keep Love....what's next?

I have been on the side that believed we would trade Love prior to the season starting. But I have to say that I am getting less sure of this proposition with each and every passing day.

Like Lip said in another post, Cleveland doesn't seem to be posturing, but rather they seem to like Wiggins potential enough at the moment to refuse a deal. This is shocking to me, but it seems to be where Cle ownership is at the moment.

I still feel that the deal with the best chance of happening before the season begins is with Golden State. I am not a fan of the deal as I think Klay is HUGELY overrated as a player, and has no business as a #1 scorer on the Wolves. Also, with the way contracts have been doled out this offseason, he will certainly get $15M, which is clearly beyond his worth on the court.

That being said, what happens if Love stays? We haven't really addressed it on this board as everyone is assuming he leaves. Do we try to win to convince Love to stay (i.e. what happened with Aldridge in Portland)? Do we just roll with what we have, avoiding adding any long-term contracts, and hope for another .500 season (I don't see anything better with current roster). Do we try to move some assets and improve this team? Maybe sign some useful guys in FA (i.e. Sessions, Humphries, etc)? Try to make a play for S&T with Indy for Stephenson?

I will say that I would rather hold Love than trade him for non-spectacular assets. But I also wonder if ownership has a plan in place if Love happens to start the season on our roster. Wonder if Lip has any inside info.

Keep Love, go for the playoffs, just miss the playoffs, somehow get the number 1 pick. Love resigns

Hey it worked for the Cavs

If we keep Love you can expect a similar season to what we just experienced, only with a lot more turmoil and infighting. Love will be booed mercilessly on his home court - as he should be - and the team will have the worst chemistry of any group in the league. Knowing this, other teams will continue to low-ball the Wolves at the trade deadline figuring Flip will be desperate. Flip will refuse trade offers and let him walk at the end of the season, where he will most likely head for NY or LA.

Because of all this, your premise of actually hanging onto him seems far fetched to me.

Kevin Love clearly is this franchises 2nd best player ever. Why does he deserved to be booed? Because he used the word they? Good lord are you that insecure?

Why does any player get booed when they leave a city? Certainly Love has given us plenty of reasons. And if you're so delusional to think he won't be, I can't help you. And please explain how any personal insecurities would come into play here. Sometimes you're like watching one of those reality TV shows where a cast member will be saying something unintelligible or curious, and the producers immediately follow it up with a blank black screen except for a large yellow question mark.

Players get booed yes. but it's not like they deserved it. It would be stupid for Heat fans to boo Lebron for example.

You said Love deserved to be booed. How does he deserved to be booed?

"Certainly Love has given us plenty of reasons."

Has he? I can't say that I agree.

Insubordination doesn't qualify?

defiance of authority; refusal to obey orders.

Does that sound like anything Love's done? You've gotta be kidding me. The Love hate/criticism has grown out of control on this board.
