Shouldn't Flip just tell Love....

That no one wants him. Seriously, teams aren't willing to give up Klay Thompson or Wiggins for Love. This is getting insane. Maybe he really is overrated. I guess he needs to come out and dominate and prove he is worth a max contract in his upcoming free agency.

I believe Kevin Love has already proved that he's worth a max deal

Teams would be falling over themselves to get him as a free agent. I don't think Love has to worry about that. This whole thing is about leverage and wating the other side out. I don't see the Cavs changing their mind, but Boston might add to whatever it is their offering. It will get done before the season starts.

You would think that Cleveland and GS would realize that they can't sign him in that context though. I think some of this has to be that teams are not as high on him as we assume. I have said from the get go that Wiggins/Cavs#1 pick was the only deal that interested me. I really don't want to do a team any favors right now. Good for Flip if he can wade through the shit in this situation and make it to the best deal.

We are in a lot better shape than the Knicks and Carmelo just stayed in NYC when a lot of people thought he was gone, Bosh stayed in Mia over Houston for the Money. That extra 40-50 million-ish really does make a difference

Still unlikely (1-5% chance) but that same thought ran through my head regarding Bosh staying in Miami. Though I think it's only an extra 30 million or so.

I think most teams would jump all over the opportunity to have him on their team, but in this situation they are going to lowball and try to get the best possible deal they can. The interesting thing to me is them being told Wiggins or no deal and yet they still threw down offers w/o him.

I agree 100% about not doing anyone any favors. It needs to be a solid trade or don't bother.

To be fair, Bosh loves south beach and Melo loves & is from NYC. Plus Bosh still has pat Riley, Wade, etc while Melo has Phil. Granted Love has said he likes it here in MN, but I think it would come down to success, how the team operates on the floor and his relationship with Flip.

You'd think at some point Love would start feeling a bit disrespected by the lack of quality offers for him.

Probably a dumb thought but as Love looks around the league and sees every other player signing deals to specifically align with the new CBA.

Could Love begrudgingly opt-in for his current contract postponing his raise a year later so that the whole of his contract would be richer? Otherwise he's got 2 or 3 years where he could be making less than the new CBA would permit.
