It seems like just about anything sounds good in the pen right now so getting Cotts is a positive. Even if all he can do is get guys on one side of the plate out that's something that can be pretty useful. It seems like so any guys we hoped would be factors in the pen this year haven't worked out.

Not a huge move, but I still like it. Cotts has always been a decent lefty, and we got him for nothing. I guess what I like best is that Terry Ryan isn't giving up, even if I want to throw in the towel sometimes. I had given up on the season for about the 5th time when we got swept in NY, but after a couple wins in Balty we're only 2 out again in the wild card race. And while I thought Perkins might be done for the season, now there is some hope that he might be able to return to form.

This team seems very resilient to me, and they are fun to watch with the youngsters (Sano, Buxton and Rosario) in the lineup...although the vets (Hunter, Dozier, Mauer and Hunter) aren't contributing much at all. And in just a few days we may be adding Kepler and Walker to the bench, and who knows, maybe Berrios to the bullpen. Duffey got shelled in his first game in Toronto, but I called a friend during the game and asked "Did you see that curveball?!" And sure enough, he's been nearly unhittable his past two starts.

Looks like we have the possibility of a meaningful September.

Was looking at the schedule and it's gonna be rough going from this point forward. We have roughly 20 games left at home. 7 of our 13 series against teams with a record above .500. And the other 6 are against the white sox, tigers and Indians. Defiantly doable for that last wild card spot but bleak. If the angles keep losing guys and we stay close, we would have a 4 game series with them at the end of September which is a plus.
