Its Over

Dallas only has 19 games left.
Phoenix only has 21 games left
Memphis only has 21 games left
Wolves only have 21 games left

We are 5 games back of the playoff teams and 4 back of Memphis. all three of those teams are playing well and unless we go like 18-3 (highly unlikely) the rest of the way I don't think there is a chance we catch them. Take last night for example. Phoenix beat OKC, Dallas beat the blazers on the road and Memphis beat a good bulls team in Chicago.

Even if we went 18-3 (highly unlikely) the rest of the way two of the teams we are chasing would have to do this just for us to tie them

Dallas 12-7 the rest of the way
phoenix 13-8 the rest of the way
Memphis 14-7 the rest of the way

Let it play out. Do you forget that Dallas and Memphis just lost the other night? They're no lock just yet. And saying it's over does what for you? I've seen bigger and badder comebacks/playoff pushes in all sports. Even if we don't make it, it'll be interesting to see what our final record will be anyways. Plus this will be about the fifth time this board has declared season's end before being legitimately ruled out. Anything can happen. At this point I think we all just want to end the season strong.

No its over. I don't care how many times it's been declared on this board, this is the first time i've come to grips with it. There's just not enough games left in the season for us to catch up and declaring its over doesn't do anything for me its just reality. I still want us to finish strong and have our first winning record since KG. Progress towards next season is going to be huge for this team

All day, I actually gave up a couple weeks ago. But the Wolves great road trip led me to review the remaining schedules for the 5 teams battling for the last three spots, and I was surprised at how brutal the rest of the season is for Phoenix and Memphis. Both of them are going to have to overachieve to play .500 ball, which means the Wolves have to go 15-7 to tie them. I know that sounds like a tall order, but our easy schedule makes it seem possible. This one's not over. I still think we are most likely to finish 10th, but only by a game or two.

Take 10 minutes and evaluate how Phoenix, Memphis and the Wolves should do in their final games. We're not going to catch Dallas or Golden State, but I think you'll quickly see that the other three teams are in a close race.

I don't believe the wolves are going to make the PO's, but isn't this time of the year kind of like being in the PO's? Knowing they are in a must win situation and still have a small chance of making it. We can predict W/L based on who teams play and whether they are at home or away games, but individual matchups ultimately have more to do with outcomes. Some teams just don't match up well with others. I think that is why I was so disappointed in the NY loss.

I just wish our coach would give these guys a chance by putting a lineup out that makes some sense. Stop undersizing our lineup because of your preconceived ideas, and react to what is actually happening on the court. I couldn't believe Rick was actually adjusting our lineup last night to what Detroit was doing, of course that was going smaller.

I think that's a good way of looking at it, sjm. I know that for the past several years my interest in the Wolves has waned as we got to March, but this year I'm watching more games. And my interest is due to two things: the fact that they are technically still in the race, and a desire to see what Muhammad and Dieng can contribute.

I look at it as if we need to go 18-3 to make the playoffs. It is over after we lose 3 more games. I said we had to be 8-2 after the allstar break. I think we have the 2 losses, but am not sure how many wins we have.

6-2 since allstar I believe.

I just looked at their schedules and I don't see them struggling to play .500 ball I think that's more wishful thinking than anything. Even if they play.500ish ball and go say 11-10 we would have to go 16-5 and I don't think we win more than 14 at most the rest of the way

So you're saying there's a chance!
