I got a question for anybody familiar with Adelman as a coach before coming to the Wolves: was he always this (for lack of a better word) whiny on the sidelines?

It seems like more and more you see him throwing a fit like a little kid. The prime example tonight: the Wolves are up 6 late and JJ is at the line. He makes the first shot, then the refs pause the game for some un-explainable reason. Rick starts going ape-shit on the sidelines, and then you could see JJ got flustered as well, and surprise surprise he missed the second shot. Then after the shot there's a timeout and Rick was still going crazy instead of getting the team together and doing some actual, um, coaching.

Like I said, has the man always been this way as a coach? Or has the issues with his wife, old age, etc., caused him to start losing it?

With the handful of times he's left JJ in over Ricky, I've already wrote him off as a borderline looney. Who knows what goes on his head. Cunningham over Dieng in certain situations? Yeesh. Somebody get him checked.

No, and Adelman could be senile in a nursing home 10 years from now and still out-coach Rambis.

But lets face it, this team has struggled mightily under pressure. Tonight was yet another example. And part of this in my opinion is them taking on the composure of their coach. The Wolves were f-ing up mightily by the time JJ was shooting free throws up 6, but yet the game was still well in hand if they just kept their heads about them. That wasn't the time to go ballistic over a small issue like the refs causing a stoppage between free throws, which in my mind actually caused JJ to miss the 2nd shot.

The other game Ricky took a very stupid blocking foul late in the game when the Wolves wanted to do anything but foul--a mistake yes--but Rick jumped up and down like it might cost us the game when the truth of it was the game was in hand. No need to do that...and seemingly he is acting like that more and more.

Anyway...he's most likely gone after the season anyway so it will probably be a mute point, but I do think his demeanor on the sidelines is hurting the team's ability to stay composed. And then of course there is the questionable decision making.

I don't blam the guy.The refs have been shit all year(or at least most games i seen).. But it's the coachs job to get after the refs IMO, I like it..... I think he should do what he dose to the refs with some of the players (JJ) When they fuck up lol...But he's allways been like that as far as i can remember...

Apparently, Adelman never found the right buttons to push with officials.

Look back at the 2002 Kings vs. Lakers Game 6... a travesty where he was powerless vs. officials in his signature moment as an NBA coach.

Yep, moot point, Tired Rick will be gone after this season. Better coaching this season and we're a 6 seed.
