An observation last night on how Pek was missed

Down the stretch, a majority of our plays was dumping it down to Love on the elbow and letting him go to work. Problem was that without anyone else in the block who was a threat, the Mavs were just crashing down and doubling Love every time he tried to get to the rim. He was stripped multiple times, and I believe didn't make a shot outside his last hook shot (every other point was off FT's)
Love seemed to be getting frustrated and forced a lot of things, leading him to to get stripped a lot, because every time he passed out, Kevin Martin wanted nothing to do with the ball, Brewer can't shoot, and ugh robbie.
You need Pek down low to open a lane to the basket as well as a guy to pass to who can actually score

Time to send Hummel to the D-league.

No, we needed the old fart to put Gorgui back in the game, instead of relying on DC and Hummel to create open space, but you are right about the attention Love was getting. I would point out that the refs pretty much swallowed their whistles again last night. Love should have shot well over 20 FT's. Does Adelman even watch game film?

there wasn't anyone for him to guard. And no, you can't ask him to guard Dirk. Mavs weren't doing anything in the paint, it all came from 3 point land

Gorgui can guard Dirk just as well as Love, DC, or Hummel can. In the overtime they had Wright, Marion and Dirk on the floor, so how Gorgui doesn't make sense is beyond me. Good teams make the opponent adjust to them, and the wolves were taking it to Dallas for the majority of the time Gorgui was out there.
Please explain how Gorgui couldn't guard Dirk, but you wanted Pek on the floor when "Mavs weren't doing anything in the paint, it all came from 3 point land".
The wolves had a TS% of 58 last night which shows they didn't need any additional offensive help, although Gorgui was even better at that end of the floor.

because that either would of forced the mavs to play dalembert, which takes away a scorer, or Pek punishes whoever they put on him down low.
also to say the wolves didn't need offense because of a stat, when clearly watching the end of the game where the wolves were clinging on for deer hope by getting free throws, is silly

Gorgui was 5/5 on the night, and creating his own offense. Pek would have just turned the ball over. If they are stripping Love, then Pek has no chance whatsoever. It's exactly why Pek doesn't ever score late in the game. The defense tightens up.

So you're saying Dieng is a better offensive player than Pekovic? That's a terrible knee-jerk reaction. Just over a month ago we were campaigning for Pek's All Star bid. Not to take anything away from Dieng, who has been playing great, but he is on par with Turiaf or Chris Johnson last year in terms of offense--pretty undeveloped.

Pek is clearly a better offensive player than Dieng. Dieng impressed me last night with the different ways that he scored (it's very true that he got no spoonfeeding from Ricky at all), but I'm not convinced he can do things like that gorgeous hook consistently. Pek is good for 18 every night, and Gorgui may be someday...but not yet.
But Gorgui is clearly the better defensive player. Jim Pete has been pointing out the past two games that the way he alters shots is more important than his blocks...clearly has a big impact on the opponent's shooting percentage.
We beat a good playoff team on their home court. Who knows if we would have won if Pek had played. Maybe, and maybe not.

I like Deing. There's nothing wrong with him being a backup center. He can still get plenty of minutes and is actually the perfect backup for Pek. Deing has been the backup wolves have been looking for since they got steamer
