Free Agency Day 2 GDT

Not sure why I bothered... The Wolves are done! Just a bit of housekeeping left. Sign Miller to a Naz Reid style contract. Clark on the 3rd two-way seems reasonable for his rehab. And one open roster spot for future flexibility. Good night!
I've been putting up a fuss lately about the need to trade KAT. But with a handful of reasonable signings with the potential to supplant a few of our more expensive fringe players, maybe running it back in 2024 won't be as difficult as I had first thought.

So was I about KAT because of his contract before/during the draft. But now I think the value in a trade of him increases near the deadline, next summer, or we keep him and ride out until Rudy is expiring.

Certainly seems like they are all done. The pessimist in me thinks that by January of next season, we'll be lamenting not making a big move with KAT this offseason, i.e. just pull the band-aid off. It's hard to get too hopeful given this franchise's track record!

You have been quite the Debbie Downer lately, Q!
I completely forgot some other unfinished business: extensions for ANT and McD. The McD extension will be interesting because of the financial impact it will have in 2024-25!

Heh, I sobered up after the excitement of the last few weeks, i.e. the draft and free agency.
Bottom line is nothing we did will really move the needle much next season. I don't think we got worse, but it's clear the front office is placing their bets on Rudy, KAT, Ant, and Jaden. I'm not confident that group can break through a first round playoff exit in what is always a really competitive Western Conference. And if that's the end result (or worse), big changes will be made.

That’s my thinking as well, Q.

At first I thought you meant Dane Moore.

. Yep, Dame has finally asked for a trade. Surprised it took this long. The Blazers decided to begin a rebuild before the draft but forced Lillard to be the “bad guy” and ask out.
The the question of the day is this: Where will Lillard end up? Lead suitors in my view are Miami, Lakers, Clippers, Knicks, and Sixers. I think he’ll end up in Miami. Pat Riley always seems to get what he wants.

Hope isn’t a strategy, but I think a year of health, familiarity/development and replacing numerous one-dimensional players (DLo, Beas, Nowell) with well-rounded players with more of a defensive identity (while maintaining two of the most explosive offensive players in the game) is a pretty good recipe for a good year. Admit there is some wishful thinking here, but I feel good about the future and lots of options to pivot as the season (or off-season) unfolds.

Yeah I was thinking Dane Moore also. Lol
I don’t see why Dame is the bad guy. He kept saying he wanted to stay when other guys may have asked out. It makes sense for him to move on and the Blazers to get something for him. The Blazers weren’t gonna just send him somewhere in a deal.
