NBA stars who struggled in Summer League

Many NBA players who become stars play well by their second year of Summer League ball. But there are certainly some instances of stars and really good players who struggle throughout their Summer League experience, particularly with their shooting. So for those who hope Wendell Moore can become a good player, you might enjoy this. Some notable names:

Khris Middleton-Played two years and shot below 40% both years and averaged 6 and 10 points respectively. Only bright spot was 40% three point shooting but on low volume (6 for 15 over 2 seasons).

DeJounte Murray: Terrible shooting percentages: 33% shooting over 2 seasons (only 25% FG% his second year) and 25% 3s overall (0% his second year). Scored 9.9 points. It wasn't all bad as he did manage 1.9 steals and 5.7 rebounds.

Jaylen Brown: Shot 35.7% over 2 seasons including 40% his second year, 26.2% three point shooting over 2 seasons including 30% his second season. It wasn't all bad since he managed 1.73 steals, 5.27 rebounds and .91 blocks.

Draymond Green: Shot 30.2% over 2 seasons. On plus side, 7.5 rebounds, 1.75 steals, .75 blocks.

Moral of story: If your shooting sucks, hopefully, you can manage superior steals and rebounds or three point shooting.

Towns sucked in summer league also. In 5 games he only took 5 threes and missed all of them.

I stopped giving credence to Summer League after Trae Young's disaster class, only to immediately turn into a star once the real season began.

Good posts. Yup. And we all know it works in reverse too. Guys who dominate Summer League don't always look the same once they are in NBA camps. Still...I'm sure we all wish our guys to give good showings. And what the hell else do we have to talk about for the moment
