Pelicans vs Wolves GDT

Pelicans are going to be a bit depleted tonight. Zion, McCollum, Trey Murphy, Naji Marshall and Alvarado are out with Herb Jones listed as questionable. On paper, Wolves should get an easy win, but after last year, there are no easy wins. I expect we'll see former Wolf Matt Ryan. We should see rookie Jordan Hawkins and last year's rookie Dyson Daniels in prominent roles. Of course, JV and Ingram will be out there. Given that last game went to OT and was a hard fought game against the Celtics, I wouldn't be surprised if the Wolves rest one or two rotational players tonight or play them lighter minutes.

We passed the Utah test, which could have easily been a letdown, so now this is Test #2. Based on last season's record against teams with records > .500 and what we have seen so far this year (wins against Boston, Denver, and Miami), I feel like we will win our fair share of games against good teams. So now it's all about winning a decisively larger share of games against inferior competition vs. last year. That's the path to 50 wins.

Fun fact. Wolves currently at 4-2 which is exactly where they were last year after six games. Don't know if that's good or bad. But it is a fact.

Yeah, it's a loooooong season, so hard to say definitively we have turned a corner. However, folks may recall how the start of last season was filled with home games and weaker competition. We played a pre-Wemby tanking Spurs team three times in the first 7 games and lost twice to them. That was the beginning of a season-long trend of playing down to our competition.
Losing @ Atlanta (currently 4-3) and @ Toronto (currently 3-4) on the road is not great, but I don't consider those back-breaking losses in the same way those early losses to SAS were.
Again, tonight is Test #2 of whether we play down to our competition. We passed the Utah test.

Hard to be a Pels fan. I really like the idea of Zion, but in reality it would be tough to cheer for him night in and night out.

Cool! Maybe he'll get down under 300 after he gives birth!
