I have heard these last few days that he drags down the team with complaining, so we should get better.
This blows

Depends on the severity. I've had a meniscus injury and it usually is treated without surgery first. He could be back in a fairly quick if it's mild, like a sprain, it all depends on how it is. They took an MRI or whatever on mine and it's a difficult injury to evaluate. They couldn't 100% even tell me for sure it was a meniscus without opening up for a surgery. Mine wasn't too bad, I got a cortizone shot and I didn't even miss a week or so. I don't think we will really know how long he will be out unless he has surgery. Then it's a long time for sure.

Such terrible news, and raises some questions about when it happened. KAT played 34 minutes Sunday night and 21 Monday. Finchie even substituted him into the game with 23 seconds left Monday! Was KAT playing with a torn meniscus, or did it happen in a practice Tuesday or Wednesday? More likely the latter. But if it's the former, it goes to show how tough KAT is if he played all those minutes without ever mentioning his injury.
Anyway, such unfortunate news. We will hopefully find out more about the tear (although the Wolves are notoriously nontransparent about injuries), but we knew there are a wide range of outcomes. Embiid is currently weighing options for his tear...rest and rehab, or surgery. But with only a month left in the season, we can assume we won't see KAT at least during the regular season. We are still a formidable team without KAT, but as I look at the remaining schedule, it now looks like we will finish in 4th place with about 50 wins. There's an outside chance one of the teams currently 5th through 7th could get to 50 wins, but I think it's doubtful. So we should still be hosting a first round series...albeit against a tough team. We have to hope that KAT's injury is on the more favorable end of the spectrum (and there is some hope there, since he has finished the game Monday...unless pf course he hurt the knee in practice this week), and that he is able to return for the playoffs.
What do we do in the meantime. Finchie seems to prefer starting SloMo when a starter is out, because I think he likes Naz;s scoring off the bench. But having two non-shooters on the court at the same time is not optimal, so we may see Naz starting at PF.
I guess this will also show management and ownership how we play without KAT, and will have a lot of impact on off-season plans.
In any event, this really sucks.

Thanks for that first hand info, WF...yes, we have to hope for some good news here like you got.

Talking to my athletic trainer friends. Long term is worse if he does not get surgery. If he does not get surgery it’s usually around a 2-6 week injury but it matters on the severity. Obviously they haven’t seen Kat injury

Hope Woj has a better source than Sham. Woj is unclear if it’s a tear and if he will miss anytime

Yeah...gotta love Woj saying it's unclear how much time "IF ANY" KAT will miss...hope for the best.

Boy....hope this ends up getting filed under "fake news". This has been an amazing season and we would undoubtedly take a step backwards if we lose KAT.

I've had meniscus surgery on both knees. Each time they went in and just trimmed the damaged area out. I was running on a treadmill within a week, and probably could have played in 3 weeks. It's not going to heal on it's own if it's torn. Your choices are removal, which could cause long term problems, or repair, which keeps you on crutches for weeks and extends the rehab time. Let's say they just need to trim 20% of the meniscus. In that case he can be back pretty quickly.
