Agreed on NAW. I guess his weakness is the ability to drive and dish. With a clunky offense in the 4th I guess Finchie feels like he needs more shot creators.

This is a difficult game for me to grade, because I thought we played so well in the first half, but then ran out of gas. I have a few disagreements with your grades though.

Conley shot well and did some sneaky good things on defense, but I can't give an A- to a PG who only ends up with 2 assists and 3 turnovers...and sloppy turnovers at that.

I know there was some frustration in the GDT about Ant not taking over in the 4th, but I thought he had another very nice game. His recent growth has been quite evident, and I feel like he is maturing rapidly. His standard 5 turnover games seem to be disappearing, as he is learning to be more careful when faced with double and triple teams. 50% shooting and 4 assists and only 1 turnover are more signs of his growth. I'll give him a B.

Naz shot poorly and was overmatched at times when he was on Jokic (as most players are), but I have to acknowledge that he was the only T-Wolf who outscored Denver when he was out there...his +3 was 13 points better than any other starter. I think it's because he had a rare for him "do shit" game...6 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists, a block, and no assists made up for a poor shooting game. I give him a C+.

I'm admittedly a JMac bobo...the flow of the game changes markedly when he comes in. And while his 10 minutes only produced 1 assist and 1 turnover, he was mistake-free, moved the ball well, and played his usual disruptive defense. I would have played him more than 10, and I give him a C.

IDK. I'm still think their is way too much Naz hate

It was not a good game for him scoring. I can concede that. But still, all the other starters are minus 10 to minus 17, while Naz was a plus 3....is that worth an F? I don't believe this was an instance of his rating being padded with garbage time. He played 30 meaningful minutes.

It was a four point game (87-91) at 7:20 when Rudy was subbed in for Naz.

It was a nine point game (92-101) at 4:03 when they brought back Naz.

It was a 16 point game (94-110) at 2:44 when they pulled all starters (including Naz). Naz was the only guy to score (he was 1-1) from 4:03 to 2:44. But he was obviously also part of the defensive breakdown too. Key word there though is "part" since the Wolves didn't appear to fair better when he sat.

We were on the road coming off a back to back. It is what it is. I'm not down on this loss at all. It was not our best game and we ran out of gas.

Good post - you were writing this as I was completing mine, so I didn't see it first. I appreciate that you are consistent with evaluations using plus/minus. I was wondering how you were going to grade this one. I thought I had you in a box LST, but you are too smart for me!

My thoughts are very close to yours, Anthony...I'm not discouraged at all by this loss, and even a little encouraged about what this means when KAT comes back if he can be productive. Naz will not have shooting games like this very often, and he did so much else in this game that he deserves at least a C.
