Time to talk offseason.

Because we're 2nd apron, this is basically gonna be a trade KAT thread, but we have 2 picks in the top 40 in this draft. Decisions to make on Kyle, how to get better offensively because we're clearly sound on defense.

I'll open it up to y'all to configure what to do.

the downside to that is, Ingram is less of a PF than KAT is and Ingram's another one who sucks in the playoffs.

I don't wanna see a trade that leads to McDaniels primarily playing PF.

I still think the BK trade is the only option out there:

KAT and Moore for Finney-Smith, Ben Simmons' expiring a first rounder from Phoenix and maybe sprinkle in a couple of 2nd's.

I keep bringing this one up because as someone who hears a lot of Nets talk, they don't seem willing to blow it up, so unless they think they can do better than Towns in free agency a year from now, that's the move where they can I guess sell Bridges on a third star while still having draft capital to get a 2nd one.

Other than that, as I've said for a while now, everyone sees what you're seeing. If you hate KAT, everyone else REALLY hates KAT. If you're tired of looking at him, everyone else REALLY doesn't wanna see him.

The big downside in the short and long term is the 2nd best player on a really good Wolves team isn't gonna be on this roster and they're gonna have to find scorers and shooters and that's tough to do on vet mins.

If KAT didn't mentally shrink in big moments, he solves every problem we have. Finding a version of KAT that's mentally strong is not only impossible, but that guy is somebody's first team All-NBA guy.

see if Garza re-ups for a vet min. If not, he'll go to a team with a better offer.

I doubt we bring back Anderson or McLaughlin tbh. McLaughlin a little bit more likely, but a PG revamp is in order. Time to start developing Conley's successor.

I don't think Free Agency is an option. We sucked at buyout candidates. I don't think veterans are chomping at the bit to come here on the minimum.

The Wolves have Clark, Miller, Minott, a first, an early 2nd. 3 of them have to at least appear to be worthy of a rotation spot. Otherwise, how do we trust Connelly to supplement the team with young controllable talent? He needs his own Naz Reid.

Gobert /Garza?
Reid/Finney-Smith /Minott
McDaniels/Miller /#27 or #37
Edwards /Alexander-Walker /Clark
Conley /#27 or #37

Wanna give Cam Payne a minimum? Malachi Flynn a minimum? Ben Simmons would occupy the 15th spot but make no mistake his career is over.

I still think KAT could bag a decent haul, regardless of his play the last 3 games. Let's not forget he was an All Star this season and could help a team reach the playoffs, especially in the Eastern Conference.

The two teams that I see a fit is Brooklyn and Atlanta.

KAT to Nets for Ben Simons, Cam Thomas and 2027 1st RP (via PHI)

KAT to Hawks for Jalen Johnson, Clint Capella, Bogdan Bogdanovic and 2025 2nd RP (via MIN)

I would try to trade Kat for Domantas Sabonis. Think Sacramento would be open to a change.

Our old favorite

“For Garland, a source shared with Right Down Euclid that a dark horse that could try to acquire him is the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since 2019, when Minnesota tried to trade up to select Garland in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Timberwolves have been fans of Garland’s game and need a succession plan for current starting veteran guard Mike Conley. Garland could fit that mold perfectly and could play in harmony next to Anthony Edwards as a pass-first, score-second option in a theoretical backcourt.

Atlanta winning the lottery screwed y'all over. If the Hawks are drafting Sarr, keeping Okongwu on a sweet deal, why would they a) add KAT in to take opportunities away from Sarr and b) pair Trae and KAT together?

Brooklyn isn't moving Cam Thomas unless they're getting Donovan Mitchell back. On the Nets, the most popular player by a wide margin is Cam Thomas.

playing some trade machine and yeah, some of these teams either don't have the space or contracts or it's the wrong direction entirely.

For example, KAT/Moore to Portland for Grant and Brogdon/protected first. Sounds not terrible, but it's also a tough direction for Portland to take and they still have Timelord.

another example: Towns to the Wizards for Kuzma, Holmes and Bagley. Matches on paper but no picks and not sure Washington wants to allocate so much money to Towns.
