Preseason Game #1!

I don't know if we'll get much conversation going on the Vikings, but the basketball world is about go dark after the last Olympic game today. So maybe we'll get some action...

Sounds like Darnold is well on his way to being the opening day starter. But McCarthy has been pretty darn good in training camp. Darnold is supposed to get the start today followed by a pretty big dose of McCarthy, and then wrapping up with Hall. We'll see a little bit from most starters in this preseason game, unlike KO's preseason games in previous years.

Anyway, it'll be fun to see some hometown football action again!

He looked really good, then did what all Vikings QB's do, break their knee.

JJ on the run threw an inaccurate pass that was picked off early on, but after that, he was awesome. He definitely has the "it" factor, and should be our franchise QB for years to come. But he is a 21-year old rookie and it was pretty well understood that Darnold would be the starter on opening day. The season would proceed with the burning question of "when will JJ start?" And that question was not based on whether Darnold was playing well or not, but when can JJ show enough in practice that KO would be inclined to begin the JJ era. We now know the JJ era won't start until next season. And while that is a bummer, it doesn't take away from the fact that Darnold has looked good in practice and the Vikings can still surprise a lot of people this season.

I watched the game twice and JJ did look good. I was hoping he would not end up playing this year but not because he would be injured. Hopefully he can still develop and it's not like he won't be able to do anything physically.
