Are the wolves a better team if Donte actually improves upon last season while Randles numbers fall back a bit or if they both come in bringing the same production?
I’m off the opinion that DD may end up being the most impactful player in this trade.

Not even sure Donte can improve on what he did last year, as he took a huge leap last season in 3-point shooting. Hard to see yet another level there. But if he and Randle just play at the same level, I think we may ultimately be a bit better.

They'll both statistically take a hit. It's just a matter of whether our roster takes a hit for needing to accommodate these additions and not have it look clunky and DiVincenzo feels like will be an easier fit than Randle.

I have grown to love the trade. I think we get too caught up in evaluating talent and lose track a bit on value. I think DDV’s contract is a steal. While there are teams who would resign KAT for his current contract, it is not an easy decision and certainly not a value contract. You sacrifice so much to accommodate a max contract on a fringe max player. I think KAT is clearly a better player than Randle, but not that much so getting DDV, a future first and more roster flexibility feels to be not only a good trade to me, but a steal. Disclaimer, my friends think I’m a bit of a homer, but what do they know.

Your take is inline with your handle! The trade is playing for the Long Game...
I am pretty sure we are going to be pleasantly surprised with Randle. Especially since the bar is being set so low with all the lamenting on his warts.

I'm also a fan of the trade and Long game laid it out really well.

The worst thing about this trade is now that KAT is playing for big market team his free throw attempts will increase 50%.

I'd be more annoyed if Towns started shooting like 9 or 10 threes a game.
If the league is gonna allow more physical play I have doubts Towns is gonna get to the FT at a much higher rate than he had as a Timberwolf.

In my opinion, more FTs for KAT because he plays for a big market team is irrelevant (just a limitation of being a small market team, although I’m not even sure that is a thing (not saying it isn’t, just haven’t seen data it is). If KAT improves because of effort, that would be frustrating. I know very little about our new players, but already LOVE Dante’s game and intensity. Can’t imagine Randle can’t match or improve on KAT’s intensity. KAT seems like a great guy and incredibly talented, but also incredibly soft and immature. I wish him the best of luck, but I think some of the value of this trade is addition by subtraction (I think there is actually a credible argument that Naz is better than KAT (definitely a better value) so more minutes for Naz should be added to the haul of Dante, Julius, a future first and salary cap relief). Can I increase my win total to 60?
