Adding Jones on a minimum contract didn't prove the coup the Suns had hoped for last summer. He produced as expected, shooting 41% on 3-pointers and posting his usual high assist-to-turnover (4.7), yet he couldn't help Phoenix's offense deliver on its potential. For all their talent, the Suns were barely better than league average in offensive rating, and Jones started just four games after the All-Star break. He might need to sign another short-term contract to rebuild his value. One interesting option: Could Jones return to his hometown Timberwolves if Alexander-Walker heads elsewhere?
Chris Paul is also a free agent. Would either be an option if/when NAW leaves for greener patures?

Tyus is certainly someone for the front office to consider if they decide to trade or demote Conley.

I believe Donte will pair with ANT next season to be our starting backcourt. Backup PG will be manned with a combination of Dilly and Mike, depending on what the game calls for (and how Dilly is playing). Both Clark and Shannon will provide depth in the backcourt.

And don't forget we have Hyland in the wings. I am not seeing a role for Tyus that he would be willing to accept.

Plus we have the draft. I have seen a few mock drafts with the Wolves taking a PG at #17. I have my doubts about that, but the draft results will also tell us more about what the Wolves might do in free agency.

I'm not convinced yet that Connelly won't shake things up a bit. That doesn't necessarily mean bringing on Tyus, but I'm also not going to assume that everyone but NAW is back next season. Just because DDV and Ant did work for a period of time doesn't mean it's ideal or can't be upgraded in some way.

I don't expect Tyus Jones to come here on a vet minimum.


Assuming he would, I'm still very uncomfortable trying to find reasons not to play Dillingham. If it was simply exchanging Conley for Jones that's one thing but we're trying to reduce Conley's minutes anyway, so what's the point?

Tyus is too small to play in playoff games. (So is Dilly). He will just get hunted time after time

If you can get Tyus on the cheap I'm all for it. He would certainly help our turnover issues and he's become a 40% 3pt shooter.

A season of Tyus / Conley / Dilly is an ok short term solution for the PG position. Ball handling and creativity has been a real issue this season for this team. Tyus at least helps address that somewhat.

Idk what Tyus is going to value at his next stop assuming he leaves the Suns. I can't help but wonder if the coaching was a problem. They should have been better but they were 13 games worse than they were under Vogel.

Tyus basically gives you something similar to what Conley does but younger. He probably was not as good of a defender as the advanced stats said but I have a hard time believing the last couple years he forgot how to play on that end. It would be cool to add him but maybe they can go for someone with a more different skillsset than Conley idk.
