Guess who leads the NFL in avg yards per attempted pass?
JJ McCarthy is who! Not Mahomes, not Goff or Allen or name your former MVP.
The youngest and least experienced QB in the NFL is averaging 12 yards per attempt. Long developing routes with tougher downfield reads. You need more touch, more anticipation, more accuracy and better reads. Like WTF is he thinking? Feels like going from basic math to trig with no in between.
In the Cleveland game with Wentz and a backup Oline we had many more three step drops and simple throws and it worked like a charm (considering all the backups). Can't run the ball super well? OK get a 4 yard pass off and let the WR,TE or RB make a play to get a few maybe many more. KOC in the postgame looked disgusted at how his game plan that week worked.
He hates not doing his thing.
Why are we throwing the kid so far into the deep end? KOC can't help himself.
I never understood why the hot routes and check downs almost don't exist either (relative to other offenses)? Not just with JJ, with Bradford and the half dozen other MN QB's. I think he designs many plays so they don't have one, trying the stretch the field to the maximum.
Shouldn't we really just be running closer to 50/50 and I like passing as it's more effective, but having shorter easy throws and playing good defense with a rook at QB? Sure, don't mind some longer plays / routes either, you have to not be predictable. But at this point we're predictable the other way and it's tough on a rook at QB.
Conclusion, KOC is a clown.
