DLo's Revenge - Mavs at Wolves GDT

The Wolves are still in a really good spot. They need to keep beating the teams they are suppose to beat over the next 4 games, starting tonight against DLo and the Mavs. Oh, and this will be our first looksie at Cooper Flagg!
ANT is coming off 2 rough shooting nights from 3. A lot of our guys need to rebound with better performances coming off that Denver loss. It would be nice to have a bunch of garbage time in the 4th, but I'll be happy with a "comfortable" win.
If the Wolves take care of business over the next 4 games, they should have a bit of a cushion between being a playoff team and a play-in team.

Both Gafford and Lively are listed as OUT tonight. But they still have DLo!

Plus AD...that's a lot of length on the bench! This one has to be a blowout. I'm going to watch only because I'm curious about Flagg. Such a disservice they've done to him making him play PG so much, and it shows up in his stats. He's dead last on the Mavs in on/off with a horrible -21.6 per 100 possessions. In fact he is doing something you almost never see...last in both offense and defense on/off.

I'm hoping Dillingham can build on his solid stint from the last game. It was a tiny ray of hope in an otherwise bad sophomore campaign for him. It's hard to see this team getting deep in the playoffs unless one or more of the Dillingham/Shannon duo really step up and make Finch's life difficult in who to include in the rotation and how many minutes (i.e. a good problem to have). The current top 8 aren't good enough to take OKC down and Denver and Houston would probably also be favored in a 7-game series. We're currently a good team, but not a contender. Plenty of time to change that though!

Flagg's been put in a bad situation for sure. I guess the argument is, is it better to get your ass beat every night or can you possibly ruin a guy, lose confidence and not grow? I think he'd be better off getting small success against backups, if he can, then slowly move his minutes up.
Ant didn't even start for over a month! I like that plan better, to not just hand a starting job over to a guy just because he was a high draft pick. Bring them along slowly, rather then feet to the fire. Make them earn it in practice, off the bench or even G league if they are really struggling.
I think part of it is, since the Mavs are like a dumpster fire since the Luka trade, they are simply trying to sell something. It is a businesses after all. Hey we can watch Flagg, even if it's a terrible idea.

I agree, Q...I'd like to see another good performance from Rob, and he may never get a better opportunity than tonight against the Mavericks. They seem to have abandoned trying to turn Flagg into a PG, and are starting Brandon Williams, who isn't much bigger or more experienced than Rob. And the backup PG is DLo, who my sources tell me might not get any all-NBA defensive team votes this season. I'd love to see Rob get 20+ minutes against that pair.

Good to see we are giving the Mavs lots of confidence…

Ant had a wide open layup and gave it to DDV for the open corner 3. The percentages would suggest the layup was a better shot, but not a bad decision this early in the game.

Ant taking a seat earlier than normal. I hope it was a targeted benching by Finch, as Ant played like crap in his first stint. No energy. Reminds me of last season against undermanned teams!
