Trade season

This can be a thread for trade ideas for those ready for trades or for when they become ready.

To Atlanta: Rudy, Mike and Lenny for Trae and Nikola Djurisic.

Would Atlanta and Coach Snyder want Rudy? Would the Wolves move him for Trae? Seems unlikely.

To Atlanta: Julius, Mike, and Rob for Trae and Djurisic

Would Hawks want Julius? They like forwards that can handle and he is better cost controlled than Trae.

To Boston: Naz and Rob for Derrick White. The money is nearly identical but the Nets will need to help facilitate. Naz seems like a solid fit for what Boston wants, at least offensively.

To Charlotte: Julius and Rob for LaMelo. Numbers are very close but would just need to move around some deck chairs. Alternative is Naz plus Donte for Julius. Hornets would probably rather have that.

To Charlotte: Naz for Collin Sexton. Perhaps get a sweetener from Charlotte?

To Chicago: Naz and Lenny for Coby White and Jalen Smith. Coby is in for a big payday. They also have Tre Jones but the Wolves dont have a good matching salary for him.

To Milwaukee: Naz, Jaden, Joan and Rob plus any pick swaps we have for Giannis and Cole Anthony.

To Memphis: Naz, Donte and Rob for Ja.

To Sacramento: Rob and Lenny for Devin Carter and Keon Ellis.

Or maybe we can cobble together guys like Lenny and TJ for someone like Kris Dunn.

Any I missed?

At this point it isn't necessary for them to make a seismic shift of the roster. It might bear out that Julius just isn't the answer.

What I want to know is who is a realistic PG that is obtainable without a massive trade?

Ju, Ant, Jmac and Rudy have great off/def/net ratings together which are probably juiced by the poor competition, regardless let's say they are the right players to have in those positions.

Who's the plug and play PG who can orchestrate that group to a more synergistic unit?

*It's a 6 years younger Mike Conley*

That's hard to do with the salaries the Wolves have. Old friend Tyus Jones is making 7 million, for example. Unless the Wolves are sending out Rob for him it would take 3 of the other young guys and would create too big a roster imbalance.

I like keeping all the trade talk in one thread, Phenom...good move.

Trae Young is such an intriguing player. My concern is that Atlanta is playing much better without him. They were 1-3 when he got hurt early in their 5th game, and 10-4 since he went down.

Small volume scoring lead guards like Trae, Darius Garland, and Ja Morant are usually disasters in the playoffs. Their net ratings plummet.

That's why there may be wisdom in Finchie trying to mold Dilly into a defensive pest and distributor, prioritizing these qualities over scoring. In fact I heard Rob printed a screen shot of Kekgeek's B grade from last night and stuck it on his refrigerator!

A number of trades cannot be made until December 15th, which ain't all that far away.

A lot of trades will require a 3rd party with so many teams not being able to take back more salary in a trade.

Usually, extenuating circumstances are needed to make a PG available, such as the team sucking, or the player being a headache, or the player just not being on right time line as the other developing players on that team.

I know this has been pooh-poohed, but I would keep an eye on Dejounte Murray at the trade deadline.

Hahaha! I agree with you, Q...I would not want to give up assets for any of the three players you mention.

This is the issue I always run regarding the PG consternation- is Tyus Jones really going to make a damn difference for this team?

Anyway, I'm trying to answer my own question here. I don't watch a lot of NBA basketball outside of the Wolves even tho I'd like to, so I searched players by assist percentage and went from there.

I'd like to reach some more, but Immanuel Quickley pops as a near perfect candidate based on his numbers- the issue is getting Toronto to move off him.

He's 26 years old on 32.5M per 5 year contact
26% assist percentage, 10% TO percentage
20% usage
Good 3 point shooter

Perhaps a three way trade that send Ja to Toronto, Quickley to MN, Rob to Memphis. Obviously more would be needed but I don't know what it is, and obviously the wolves would have to sacrifice more than just Rob, but again idk what it is.

*Late edit* I'm trying to do some more digging on how much of a POINT guard IG is. Not sure how much of a table setter he is, but he definitely profiles as a good ball handler

Yeah, Quickley was high on my radar as well. But Toronto is playing really well. I see absolutely no reason they would even think of trading him.

Derrick White is interesting because he's several years older than Tatum and Brown. A sweet enough deal might just pry him away.

Or we could pick up Monte Morris...

Or work on ANT's "so-called" lead guard abilities. I don't know if that is Finch, or someone else, but that avenue seems like our best bet.

Yeah I'm not sure why they would either, but Morant rumors came up when I searched Toronto trade rumors. Although that's probably the case for any team lol.

It actually might make some sense tho that they would want a little more offensive punch and could convince themselves that they have the right culture for Ja.... Idk
