Because we love you, here's your present...a first ML at bat against Chris Sale! Yes, the guy with the upper 90s fastball and the ridiculous breaking ball, and the .194 BAA. Welcome to the bigs, Kendrys!

Lol... *Kennys Vargas

Hopefully Vargas' quick hands at the plate get him his first MLB hit against a really tough pitcher to face.

Ha, I butchered both names!

I'd love to see the kid get a hit off of Sale. My knees get weak just watching him...can't imagine how terrifying it would be to get in the box against him.

Knees and elbows flying towards you. Hard to pick up the ball in Sale's delivery. That's without mentioning how filthy his stuff is. Good luck.

Remember when they though Sale would be nothing but a closer I hope that scout got fired lol

Great to see Kennys (and I now get why he has the "s"...he's big enough to be two guys) get his first ML hit and RBIs off Chris Sale. Sale wisely struck him out with changeups in the first, knowing he would be jacked up, but Vargas nailed a nice opposite field double his second at bat. He really has a quick bat.

But then there's his defense...ouch! He has one error (missed a toss from Dozier), but he could have 2 or 3. He certainly should have had an error on his wild cutoff throw home, and he didn't look very good on the ground ball that started the play. I know he's been working out in the OF too, and hopefully he's not so much of a butcher out there. Otherwise, he's destined to be a DH.

Kennys Vargas says Oswaldo Arcia gave him advice about facing defensive shift: "Don't try to go other way, hit it over the fence"

Lol oh Oswaldo.

Kennys Vargas has 22 RBIs in his first 21 games. I wonder what the record is for most games at the start of a career averaging at least an RBI per game...he may already have the record! I was excited about this big kid, but he looks better than even I could have imagined.

Its a short amount of time but he is really raking. I haven't seen him hit other than a couple highlights but it sounds like he projects to be more of a complete hitter than just a power or nothing guy. That complete power hitter is something this team hasn't had since Mourn was healthy and hitting for an entire season or maybe Will's first year? Anyway hopefully he is the real deal the future could be pretty bright with all these young guys. Santana keeps hitting also could we finally have found a SS?

I'm embarrassed every time this thread gets bumped because of my blowing the name...maybe we need a new thread for Kennys!

He has indeed been a huge surprise. Remember, this guy was considered a "B" prospect just a year ago, and now projects to be a middle of the lineup guy. 3 months ago, he was deemed to be a DH only, but now Gardy is raving about his defense. He still struggles with slow breaking stuff, but he punishes mistakes. They say the MPH of the ball off his bat is elite level already.

Oh, I'm glad he doesn't like the s in this first name...says his mom was just trying to be different. I think we will know him as Kenny Vargas, thank god!
