No LeBron - Final Roster Predictions

Post by Lipoli390 »

I’ve moved on from LeBron. I think it’s clear he’s not coming here. That will leave us with one more roster spot to fill and remaining uncertainty about whether we have the talent and depth we need at the PF position. The Wolves could make a significant trade yet this summer although the team’s trade assets and options are very limited. If the Wolves don’t make a trade, they will have to fill one more roster slot and can’t go above the veterans minimum to fill that slot. So time to nail down who we’d like to see the Wolves sign as LeBron signs elsewhere.

The poll asks who the Wolves should sign. You can also add who you predict the Wolves will sign.

I know Lip's vote is for Sochan... I picked Olynyk, but only because you didn't have Rocco in your list!

That was an easy guess, Tim. I’llwager the vote count for Sochan stays at 1. :) If I had set the question up for a second choice, mine would be Kevin Love. He can still spread the floor, box out and rebound. Amidst all this focus on getting bigs who can spread the floor with their shooting because of Rudy, I believe we’re undervaluing importance of getting rebounds failing to fully account for the rebounding we’re losing with the departure of both Randle and Naz. I think we really need more rebounding capability on this roster. Ideally, we’d get a rotation PF who can shoot, rebound and defend but that’s not realistic at the vet minimum. But it seems to me that free agents who can provide at least two of the three should be our priority targets. I’m not sure what, if anything, Nic Batum has left in his tank.

I can't believe Batum is on the list, and I can't believe someone actually voted for him.

Nobody on that list,

Ideally, the guy I'd pursue is Oscar Tshiebwe. 6'8'' 255, and I like him as insurance in case our young bigs get off to a slow start, but that man rebounds and does it at such an elite level. He'd be so useful for possessions when Gobert is off the court, but Beringer is and while Beringer's trying to swat everything, Tshiebwe would be there to collect rebounds.

Think Kenneth Faried but better rebounder and bigger liability everywhere else.

Scoop B says it's a 3 team race between Cleveland, GS and Minny one day ago.

Today Sam Jones (Fox 9 Photographer) asked if Scoop knows something, to which he replied, I do.

I like that Charles Bassey made the list.

I'm on the Sochan train with Lil but Im an Olynyk fan too. 8 had forgotten how well he does dishing out assists. Assuming he still has something left in the tank after a less productive season with the Spurs I'd probably go with him. On the other hand ina way Trey Lyles and Olynyk have some similarities in what they can bring to the floor so maybe a younger flawed guy makes some sense. After seeing his stats if we could get Thybulle for the vet it seems like that would be a heck of a value. I have no idea what he would come here with all the options this team currently has on the wing.

I think you hit the nail on the head Monster, with Lyles, guys like Olynyk or Love would be redundant.

My choice from with list would be Thybulle, but that's because I have extremely biased preference for defensive wings, and it's possible I have a blind spot to the need to add more size. In which case I would heavily favor Sochan.

I still personally favor the idea of going pretty "small" in which the lineups are pretty much a 5 plus a positionless array of guards and wings
