Check out this story of the guy the Twins signed this week! The guy is a 6'7", 240 lb. former art school student who throws over 100 MPH. When the Twins found him, he was throwing 90 with no other pitches. They changed his mechanics, and now he's throwing over 100. Developing a slider and change up too. And apparently they think he has the mechanics to be a starter. Reports to Elizabethton today.
Other good news:
18-year-old Lewis Thorpe is still adjusting to A ball...he's the youngest guy in the league...but yesterday he struck out 10 in 5 2/3. I watched some video of him and he looks polished...keeps his mid-90s fastball low and has a plus curve ball. I just cant imagine how good this kid is going to be when he's about 21-22.
Stephen Pryor, the hard thrower we got back for Kendrys Morales, struck out 4 in 2 hitless innings for Rochester yesterday.
And unfortunately, more injury news in this season of bad luck for top Twins prospects. Both Jose Berrios and Kohl Stewart are out with shoulder problems. Better than elbow issues, but still not good.
