Keith law = Bill Simmons

I know you guys on the twolves board hate bill, but I hate law as much if not more than bill

Today he had the Gaul to put Kris Bryant in front of Buxton in his top 50 prospects and read what he said about Meyer.

Meyer throws 97-100 mph with plus life along with a hard upper-80s slider, coming from a low three-quarters slot that, given his 6-9 frame, has to make right-handed hitters go all "John Kruk vs. Randy Johnson" in the knees. He needs to improve his changeup, as he's always had significant platoon splits, and throw more strikes, although extremely tall pitchers often take longer to develop the body control to repeat their deliveries. He might end up a reliever, but he's had enough success as a starter that the Twins should and likely will continue to use him there, forcing him to work on that third pitch.

He thinks there's a chance that Meyer will just be a reliever???????

I don't have a problem with these two takes. A lot of experts were surprised when Buxton stayed as the #1 prospect while losing half of his season, but his slow start upon his return forces analysts to knock him from the top...and Bryant seems to be the real deal. Buxton can rise to the top again, but he doesn't really deserve it based on his .205 average this season.

I think Meyer will be a starter at some point, but frankly he has disappointed me this year. I never would have predicted that May would be ahead of him halfway through the year, but May has been much more consistent. I believe the take that tall guys take longer to master their mechanics, and still expect Meyer to be an effective starter.

Bryant over Buxton doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe people are just sour because Buxton missed most of the year. I don't know. He's still the clear-cut top prospect, in my opinion.

If Meyer bottoms out and becomes a reliever, he'd be a filthy one. I think he'll be plus plus as a starter, though.

Edit: Berrios >>>

......and 25 years ago, Dwight Gooden, Darrell Strawberry, Don Mattingly, Greg Jeffries, and Ben McDonald were all first-ballot hall-of-famers, Tom Kelly was about to be fired, and that knucklehead 3rd base coach was getting too many people thrown out at home to ever get a shot at being a MLB manager.

It's called content, not Journalism. Law's job is to get "hits", or he loses it. He could do that by being funny, creative, or charismatic (ever heard him speak? Ivan Drago without the pleasant accent, and his writing is about as lively as that cardboard cutout of Creed that Drago knocked over), or he can be controversial, in as much as saying a starter could be turned into a reliever can be considered controversial.

It either happens or it doesn't.

I would like to point out that Glen Perkins lead the Twins in wins his first full season in the bigs as a starter, so it happens.
