Norv has been discussed here plenty and so while I am surprised I am not surprised. There are going to be some happy Vikings fans that were critical of Norv (some with well thought out views) and Shurmer is well qualified so they had both him and Sparano as in house candidates. As well respected as Norv is how good has the offense been since he has been here? Is/was Norv the problem or was it time for something different? Idk but there is a change and hopefully it helps this team get better. It's kinda hard to see how it can be worse. Lol

Agree on the getting worse part for sure. It can't. I wonder how long Norv's contract was and if will retire or look for another job. I am sure at some point Norv saw the writing on the wall and figures if he resigns now he can recharge a little and look for a job when positions become open. If the Vikings continue to struggle after he resigns then it kind of validates his ablity to still coach in this league.

Shurmer and Bradford have been joined at the hip. With stops in St Louis, Philly and now Minny. The results have been real yawners to say the least. Change for the sake of change type of move. Probably needed to happen but I don't see a real upgrade here.

Well, now my theory that you can't do anything without an O-line will be tested. Teams are going to continue jumping short routes until such time as they show they can run the ball and/or protect Sam long enough for mid-range routes to develop. Against teams with weak front sevens they'll do fine, but against any team that can bring the heat they will struggle mightily.
That's my theory, I hope they prove me wrong!
Edit: Regarding Norv, my guess is this wasn't his idea. One of those resign or be fired moments.

I saw a stat that showed the Vikings have reached 400 yards of offense 1 time in the past 27 games.
Currently, there are 5 NFL teams averaging more than 400 yards this season.

Just think how bad this team would be without Bradford. Could this be the worst offense he has had to play with as far as talent?

I've defended Norv to some extent because every year he was here he had some significant challenges to work through and the guy has a legit resume more of a legend than just a guy with a lot of experience etc. Having said all that what has the offense done while he has been here? Without looking my guess is the numbers wouldn't be impressive. Is it his fault? Idk I remember hearing Vikings fans say Musgrave sucked. Maybe he wasn't great but now we know Ponder and other scrubs were his QBs and now he seems to be doing ok with Derrick Carr.

Depends, worst O-line? Yes. Worst skill position talent? Not even close. He's never had the quality, nor depth of receiving talent he has here. Not much you can do when the defense gets to you almost as quickly as the ball.
