Kill me. We're suppposed to go after Nolasco/Hughes/Garza/Arroyo and yet we offered this clown a deal? Shaking my head at Terry Ryan right now. I thought he was actually gonna make some positive moves. Re-signing a guy who just had a 5.00+ ERA last year is terrible. I would have sent him packing at the All-Star break last year for a stack of towels.
I hope he declines. I hope we pull back the offer. Something. Just no more Pelfrey please.

I have a different theory: I want MIN to spend the Morneau/Carroll money (roundabout $21m) this offseason. But if they think Pelfrey is through his "dark period", why not spend it on position players? Sano at third sounds like Cuddyer Part II, so why not concentrate on a long term answer there, and push Plouffe to the outfield, where his iron glove is less of a liability? Or a SS who can hit AND field?
And what if Pelfrey's deal is like 2yrs/$3m total? That's a good deal, even if he spends half the time in Rochester.

Considering Pelfrey made $4M last year, I doubt $1.5M per year is a realistic offer. As for your Sano comment, his defense is supposedly getting better and honestly, if Miggy can play the hot corner effectively, I don't see why Sano can't. We'll wait and see. He could very well end up in LF. Plouffe would get traded in that scenario.
Also, what third baseman do you want to spend money on? Peralta just got a fat contract. I don't want to spend money on anyone in this 3B crop. I like Mike Morse as an OF/DH guy, though. Too expensive most likely, but still.

Yah Jason I got to say that I'm not worried about Sano either, it's a good sign that there moving Mauer to first because that must think Sano can stick at Third. Got remember Molitar is putting a lot of work I to Sano like he did with Dozier last year and we saw the improvement Dozier has made.

Let's hope everyone is right about Sano.
I think Pelfrey would take that if it was the only offer on the table because playing MLB is the only job that will hire him that pays that well.
As far as SS's I like Stephen Drew, but yes, upon further review, I am at a loss at 3B. If they sign the C they want, maybe they can get one for Josmil Pinto.

Trade Pinto? I'd love to hear why that's a good idea. Sounds like Wilson Ramos all over again.

It depends on the direction. If they are signing AJ to a one year deal, then yeah, AJ catches 108 and Pinto catches the other 54 and, as a fan, I would want him kept. But if they sign Saltiamacchia(?) to a long term deal, the Twins should move him while his value is highest.
And I have to call BS here in the most respectful way possible: Are you telling me you're the one who knew that 2009 Mauer was an aberration and not the "New Joe". Well, full disclosure: I thought it was just the beginning. I also thought 2009 was all natural, and 10/11 was in no way him "coming down" from whatever caused 2009. I also still put my teeth under the pillow.
