Yeah, I know it's early, but the current MLB standings present some interesting alternatives as to where the Twins will be drafting next year. With the club already having the most loaded minor league system in all of baseball, adding one more top shelf talent to the already impressive group is an intriguing prospect.

I don't know that I have ever seen so many teams bunched together at the bottom of the standings this late in the season. After last night's loss, the Twins are only two games out of getting the third pick (Miami and Houston have the first two locked up), but also only 4 games away from getting the 14th pick. I understand that the baseball draft is more of a crapshoot than the other major sports, but I like what the Twins have done with their top 3 picks the last two years and would love to see them add another potentially great player.

Now, a confession. I watched the Twins/Royals game last night with a different attitude. For the first time all season, I wasn't at all unhappy with a loss...sorry, guys. I turned the game on mostly to watch and cheer for Albers...I love to watch how quickly he works and how he gets ahead in the count with his 87MPH fastball...but I also didn't mind the final outcome.

I'm by no means advocating tanking...I'm just saying that I am more excited about the Twins future and some of the prospects available in the 2014 draft than how well they do in 2013. Not cheering for losses. but losses also aren't going to make me unhappy anymore this season. And with Mauer and Arcia out of the lineup, we are punchless enough to have a real shot at that third pick.

Its time for the kids to play. I don't care if they play teams with playoff aspirations, the kids should be getting playing time. We know what Doumit can do, why not give Pinto a chance?
