Give em Hughes and a 3rd rounder. This defense could be unstoppable.

It would be interesting to know if that would even be enough for the Jags. The Steelers gave up a 1st for that DB from Miami. I would imagine Ramsey will fetch even more.
Let's say this is a fair deal would I do it? Idk it's intruiging. What gives me pause? (No order of importance)
1. Ramsey is kinda weird. Some of his antics are probably harmless but I'd want to dig more into it
2. Ramsey is gonna be expensive after this season. He is worth the cost but it is something to consider.
3. Hughes might be a legit talent and costs a lot less the following 2 years than Ramsey. Jerry Gray the DB Coach said on Wolfson's podcast that's Hughes picked up everything and was farther along than any rookie DB he has ever coached. Maybe he doesn't become a very good player but I do think that's pretty high praise. It will be interesting to see what happens. The Vikings are going into an interesting time. They are gonna have to make some sort of decision on 3 key DBs Waynes, Alexander and Harris who are all free agents after this season. Who do they keep? How much will it cost? What kind of comp picks might they get if players leave?

Hughes was a 1st round pick himself and looked pretty dang good pre injury. I guess it all depends on what your outlook on Hughes is, how much Ramsey could cost after this season. I heard they want a 1st round pick, but of course, they could take less if no one offers that.
I do like Hughes myself, but having an even better CB then Rhodes could really help the defense. You could go 1 on 1 on both outside WR's most of the time, have Waynes play Nickel. That would be really nice.

Alexander MIGHT actually be better as a nickle CB than Waynes. Can you imagine the backlash of spending another first round pick (Hugher or otherwise) plus more (then also having to pay him) for another CB? Lol there will be other teams like KC that are much more desperate for CBs and therefore willing to give up something for him. He turns 25 next month.
Edit: This is certainly interesting to think about and post about. Also interesting guys demanding a trade.

It all depends on price. Ramsey is still a top level corner and I don't think Rhodes is on that level. I'd give them Waynes and a first, but not Hughes and a first because that's essentially two first round picks for Ramsey. Then next summer we can pay Ramsey and let Hughes and Rhodes fight for that second spot and if it's close you can cut Rhodes for a smallish dead cap number the next 2 years at 4.8 next year and 2.4 the year after or find a trade partner for a mid-round pick. If it's not close move Hughes to the inside for another year and re-evalute.

Would it be a rental? I don't see how we resign him and worry about him being a problem in the locker room. The one thing this team has done well is make guys want to be part of this team. We have resgined every key guy and most of them took less to stay.

I imagine it would have to be a sign (extend) and trade deal.
I wonder who is the real Vikings defense too. The one that gave up 21 points in the first quarter to the Pack or the one who shut them out the rest of the way. Ramsey should be getting paid though, the guy is legit.

I really like him. I wouldn't mind use going after this Obi Melifonwu as a future possible replacement.

It wouldn't have to be a rental, but there would need to be sacrifices to get it done. Griffen would need to be cut and some guys would need to restructure or get low year 1 extensions. Is that worth the best defensive backfield in the league between Ramsey, Smith and Rhodes? It's a different way to build, but it is possible.
