Jason why do you want to trade pinto so badly?

Gahh, my thoughts exactly. Pinto's been tearing the cover off the ball the last three years in the farm plus the end of last year with the Twins. I like him. Hope his defense gets better, though.

I don't want to trade him SO BADLY. I want a plan that doesn't involve him buying a house in Rochester, like some of you would have had Wilson Ramos doing. If anybody has one, I would like to hear it, and maybe explain why it's realistic, since the Twins just spent the past month chasing AJ and Saltiamacchia.

I don't think they were big players on salty. The whole point of bringing AJ in was to train Pinto in and teach him. I do agree I hope they get a catcher like Molina to platoon with pinto but they probably won't because of Doumit. Also the guy that needs to go based on your logic is Rosario even with the steroid stuff he's still a top 50 prospect and we don't really have a spot for him in the future if dozier keeps progressing.

Terry Ryan said he doesn't want to make any trades. Doesn't want to give up anybody. Could just be playing poker with teams around the league, though. I've read multiple reports about the Twins being in on Brett Anderson and Homer Bailey. Hellickson and Price's names has gone around on the internet about how the Twins could buy on them. Honestly, with the way the rotation is set up right now, getting an ace or potential ace would make some sense. I agree with our GM that I don't want to trade a whole lot right now though.

It would be nice if this guy would pan out...

Twins signed SS Jason Bartlett to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Bartlett last played in the majors in 2012, when he hit .133/.240/.193 in 98 plate appearances with the Padres. Minnesota has very little middle-infield talent, so the 34-year-old will have an outside shot at claiming an Opening Day roster spot next spring in Florida.

Cam I've always thought they could package up a Arcia & Rosario trade to get a hug price pitcher. Just with Buxton and Hicks our outfield is stacked these two guys are top 75 prospects if not top 50. Package them with a mid level prospect I think they could make a play on an Ace.

Usually to get an ace, a young arm has to be involved. I'd assume Alex Meyer would be that guy, or maybe not depending on how teams view him. Kohl Stewart's off-limits in terms of pitching prospects. I just don't know what "ace" type guy is out there that we could realistically make offers on.

Meyer and Rosario are two guys I would use as trade chips in order to get a top of the line starter. Obviously fill-ins would be necessary. I wonder what the Brewers would want for Yovani Gallardo.

Would you trade Berrios or Meyer?

Jester, thanks for responding. I have a couple of things:

1. I'm hoping the Twins don't see Doumit as catching mentor. Hitting mentor, sure. Off-field behavior, ok. 1980's Hardcore, even better. But I don't like watching him catch. I really like the Molina who is a FA.

2. I wish there was, but I don't think there is a market for Rosario. I think half the teams view him as a cheater and the other half view him as an idiot who gets caught cheating. Too bad, because Dozier is a top ten 2B.

I'd also like to say I am against trading Arcia. Arcia combined with a batting coach that stresses contact (like say Paul Molitor) is going to be deadly. In terms of Minor League pitchers the Twins should try to move because they've progressed as far as they are going to, my opinion is that Pat Dean is the top of that list. He's not going to get RH hitting out. I believe his career arc is going to be very similar to Duensing's, and the Twins already have a Duensing.
