The good news was they fought their way back. The bad news was it sounds like they hair gave it away again.

I was there yesterday, monster...sparse crowd because of the weather, but lots of drama.

Yes, it was disappointing to give away the game after the 8th inning comeback with a couple 400 foot home runs by Park and Rosario. They lost because of 4 unearned runs due to misplays in the outfield by their prized prospects Sano and Buxton, and because they scored only 2 runs despite loading the bases with no outs in the first two innings.

Sano butchered a liner hit right at him. It looked bad, but outfielders at TF have said before that they lose liners like that in the bank of lights...I think that is what is happening. More disappointing was Buxton mishandling the double in the 9th allowing the winning run to get to 3rd. Buxton isn't giving us anything at the plate, so he needs to be great in center.

I hope Presley is ok. I would have expected to see him in the 9th rather than the closer Jepson.

My buddy and I were wondering why the game made us feel so optimistic as we were leaving yesterday, and then he summed it up nicely. We did everything wrong...starting pitcher was off, no timely hitting with the bases loaded early in the game, and 2 costly OF errors. And yet, we still could have won...that's the sign of a talented team, I think.

I know this doesn't tell the whole story but the Teins pitcher gave up 2 Earned runs and had 8 strikeouts. That doesn't seem to bad. Obviously they scored some runs so yeah it was sort of a chalk it up for youth loss maybe.

Yeah, the pitching line wasn't too bad, but they give up a lot of hard shots...Santana must not be used to his new haircut yet.

Jeez...we had no errors in the outfield all season before yesterday, and now we have three from three different guys. Arcia can't find the handle, and we give up another unearned run.

When do we think about upgrading our catcher? Murphy had RISP 3 times today from what I caught on the gamecast and was 0-3. Batting .077 is a joke in the majors and Suzuki isn't that much better.

Agreed. We had a thread in January that spoke to the dearth of Twins catching and hoping this 23 year-old from Ole' Miss who is at Rochester can get it done soon.

But I have to say, you picked an odd day to complain. They won 8-1. Maybe during the first 9 games, when they lost a ton of close games because they couldn't hit basketball might have been a better time.

Could have easily been 10-11 to 1 if he gets a base hit or two. It wasn't a problem today, but it's going to be in the future. You just can't have bats that bad in the lineup. Also, I'm willing to give guys some time to get their bats going and his has just been awful since the start. Jumping on guys in the first 10 games is really quick on the trigger. 15 is still pretty quick, but he's just shown nothing to this point.

I agree that catcher offense is an issue, unless you have a gold glove back there...which we don't. Suzuki blocks the ball well, but has no arm. Murphy has a cannon, but looks very shaky as a receiver. I'm optimistic about this club, but I don't like what we're getting out of the catcher spot.
