Also found out this today, do you know the Minnesot Twins have never signed a Free Agencey reliever before. That's crazy!

That's good news, jester, that we are shopping Nolasco and that he actually has some decent advanced metric numbers. As long as Nolasco is on our roster, the Twins are going to give him an opportunity because of the dollars they have invested in him, and we have better options. I would be satisfied getting back a prospect and agreeing to cover some of his salary. I suspect that's how any eventual deals will look.

Rumors are that Padres are interested. Tyson Ross or James Shields deal?

That'd be great to land either of them and dump Nolasco at the same time. They're both strike out per inning guys with sub 4.00 ERA's (their WHIP's could stand to improve a little and 80+ walks each is excessive). Then it just comes down to how good of a prospect do they need back to take on Nolasco for one of their better starting pitchers.

That would be killer. They need a corner infielder pretty bad. I wonder if they would be interested in Ploufe.

Concern with pitchers from San Diego is they have a park that is hard to hit HR's in. That has to be considered when looking at their pitchers.

That park gives up the 10th most HR's in the league so I don't know if that is on the pitchers or if the park is just overrated.

They mentioned it on the Touch'em All podcast when saying Nolasco might be able to pitch there.

I've only been to one game in San Diego, but I was stunned at how the ball didn't carry there. The Twins shut out the Padres that night, but the Pads hit a number of rockets that I thought for sure were gone but died at the warning track. It's odd, because it doesn't appear to be an especially spacious field. I asked a Pads fan about it, and he said that the heavy wet air with the ocean just beyond the outfield keeps a lot of balls in the park that should be homers. Based on my sample size of one game, I have to believe that the number of HRs hit in San Diego says a lot about the poor overall quality of Padre pitching.

Padres was 19th in home runs. It kind of says there pitching gets hit pretty hard. I looked at Tyson Ross and he pitched better on the Road them at home. Jamie Shields was good on the road and below average at home.

I haven't heard of Zach Jones. Is losing him a big deal?
