I don't think we can trade players for picks right now. Those are almost always moves that set you back more than propel you forward and we're still on a bit of a clock while Cousins is the QB. Why get worse for future flexibility when we are trying to win a Super Bowl in the next 2 years?

Kahns its not just about trading for picks it's about having cap space to work with why this trade is considered. Let's say theoretically a team would offer up a 2nd round pick for Waynes. So now you have 9 million minus the salary of a 2nd round pick in cap space you can use for either resigning a player or adding someone via FA or even a combination of those. It's playing for the future AND the present. Obviously trading CBs is not always ideal especially with Rhodes having problems staying healthy and the rookie coming back from an ACL tear but you gotta consider making a move like this. They can't keep everyone and a 2nd rounder (just theoretically estimating what they could get) can be pretty valueable especially if they become a worthwhile player quickly (possibly even this season) they are very cheap.

So you are either spending a high pick on another corner then or signing one with that cap space because the depth behind him is coming off an ACL injury, Hill and Alexander. I would just rather keep Waynes until I know one of those three are prepared to step into his shoes. I haven't really ever been a Waynes fan just because his mental lapses cause him to get burned for a big play or almost big play every game, but with Rhodes injury history that's a thin defensive backfield as is before trading away Waynes. There are other ways to generate cap space (cut Remmer's and restructure or cut Griffin) that don't put the whole season at risk because we have a shaky defensive backfield in a league passing more than ever.

It's kinda weird/funny in a way that Kahns probably believes less in Waynes as a talent than we do and he is making the argument to keep him. :) I totally get where you are coming from Kahns. To me it all depends on what the total value is of actually trading Waynes. I've been saying 2nd round pick and cap space. If it was much lower than that I'm probably out. Lots of possible hypotheticals that make it a hard decision. Heck Wayne's could blow out his knee or something in training camp and we get nothing out of him AND he would be a free agent...although his price might be lower and stuff. That's the other reason I'm more willing to deal him. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this year. He is going to get a nice deal. I think if you can get a nice package for him now you have to consider it. I think Kahns is probably right we might need to spend some of that cap space on a vet. Captain Munnerlyn is available. Lol The other thing is we have Mike Zimmer a defensive Guru and supposed defensive back guy...it should be time to leverage that ability to help replace a solid player like Waynes. Holton Hill's success last year might give us an upper hand in bringing some other talent here.

Lots of talk about how if the Cardinals go with Murray we should go after Rosen.

They are saying he might be able to be had for a 3rd rounder. I am pro-Sloter so think either he is the backup now or we should move on. I think Rosen still has some upside and can be a legit QB in the league.

I still remember how the Falcon's traded Farve to Packers after his first year.
