It will be interesting to see the whole breakdown of Griffen's contract but it certainly looks like he gave up some legit money to stay. You wonder if other players may be willing to give up some cash if the Vikings could bring in a worthwhile player. It's worth remembering that guys that the Vikings draft and develop...they usually pay them early in their careers often giving them more than some people would expect. That can pay off down the road. I would guess that the Vikings have a positive rep in that way both from players and agents stand points. Barr got plenty of money but he also likely took less to come back here.

That signing did not work out well for them. Basically they are gonna pay him 31 million for 2 years and 16 games. Reiff isn't great but he was easily a better signing so far...

Agreed. I wanted him back on a prove it deal, but it seems like there is always that dumb team. :-)

Teddy stays with Saints for 7.2M.

What a deal for Teddy, big money for a back up and he gets to Learn from the best.

Yeah another year learning from Brees and Sean Payton? Yeah pretty good gig plus 7 million.

Easton signs with Saints. 4yr/$24M

I wanted him back, but not at that price. We are going to have to go all in during the draft. I wouldn't mind seeing Compton or Jones back next year as depth guys.

I assumed when Max Unger retired the Saints would get more aggressive with their offer to Easton. It will be interesting to see how that contract brakes down. I wasn't really interested in giving him more than 3 million this season so...I'm pretty sure they outbid what I would have done so...yeah good for Easton who I've always liked. Also I heard the Vikings may even get a comp pick for that signing. That would be pretty amazing all things considered.

Meanwhile The Vikings have shown some interest in Josh Kline. If we get him for some sort of reasonable deal I'm down with that. I'd rather for for a guy that's bouncing back and had it than a guy in Easton that's young but also coming off a season ending surgery and was average at best etc.

I don't know much about Josh Kline. Talk is he would be solid.

We just don't have any money. Looks like we are in better shape next year with 20M in cap space. The draft will make or break this team

"Solid" sounds pretty damn good to me. Lol seriously though we are looking at replacing Compton (signed with the Jets) and Remmers...solid wouldn't be that bad. Kline might come fairly cheap especially since he is gonna make 2 million from the Titans no matter what he does. Of course he may not even sign here but a true guard that might be decent for cheap ain't the worst thing.

Edit: in addition one big time thing the Vikings have going for them in FA is they have 2 wide open starter guard spots. Isadora is basically the only guard under contract next season. Draft 1 guard that plays right away but 2? Sure but not likely. Plus it's the NFL and there is parody but the Vikings are talented it's not like you are signing with some upstart hopeful franchise that is more likely to suck than be good. Sounds like Kline is coming for a visit...#solidissexy
