Paul Allen was just saying they should let Sloter go. He is very high on Browning for the future.

Sean Mannion likely has a future in coaching if he wants. I think he was the perfect backup to Goff until he got rooted. Smart enough to help, but not talented enough to take his job. I don't see Cousins needing that.

We have arrived folks. We got a draft pick for an offensive lineman. 7th rounder from the Dolphins for Isidora.

Derron Smith Cut. That's the first guy that was actually on the bubble in my eyes. Aldrick Robinson got cut by the Panthers and Dallas cut Iloka.

He'll now go on to be a HOF'er and the Vikes will use the 7th on somebody who won't make it out of training camp!

And just in case Cool forgot, Wiggins sucks! ;)

7th rounders the Vikings have actually had some success with as long as it's not a guy that kicks the ball on purpose we may hit on that guy. Lol

Jeremiah Sirles is here at the Nebraska Women's soccer home opener with his wife (former goalie) and their baby. Sirles is in a walking boot.

Cuts done. Good Bye Sloter! Good bye Treadwell!
Oli Udoh beats out Aviante Collins
Kaare Vedvik Out
Marcus Epps beats Derron Smith
Kris Boyd makes the team
Trade for Mark Fields

I would have kept Sloter. I am very surprised Boyd made the team. Vedvik move looks horrible. Rick and Zimmer will be gone in 2 years when Cousins contract is up and it is time to rebuild.

The Vedvik move looks bad and regardless of what they did with him and the specialists it was going to take some balls to make either move to keep him or let him go. He didn't earn the spot so they should get some respect for letting it go.

Sloter went unclaimed. Let's see where he lands next. It's up to him where he goes next if he has multiple options which i would guess he will. The Vikings (even if they didn't show a ton of faith in him) are still a pretty good landing spot IMO they don't really have much exciting going on after Cousins.

The 7th rounder in the Fields trade is conditional so if he isn't on the roster after a certain amount of games it costs them nothing.

Carolina LOVES ex-vikings as they added Zylstra. Personally I didn't have a strong feeling about keeping any of the WRs after the 4 they kept. I thought Zylstra was the best of the bunch but was far from enameled with him. I found it amusing that Chris Tommason's story on them cutting Treadwell he said the Vikings went with other young receivers. Bisi is 22,Treadwell 24 Beebe 25 and he assume Zylstra was going to make the team when he wrote it and Zylstra is 26.

Edit: Sloter to the Cardinals Practice squad.

Odd place for Sloter to land. He had 6 options. Besides the Lions and Cards I am not sure who they are.

Yeah I wasn't sure about the fit there either. Maybe a system fit with the magical Kingbiry and mobile QBs?

People are letting the Vikings have it for the various moves with guys that kick the ball. However...

Unless Wile somehow in the last couple weeks also became good at holding top then adding a legit vet punter in Colquitt makes a ton of sense. They obviously weren't happy with his skills there (and maybe Vedvik also or they wouldn't have been having Beebe holding. Meanwhile I wonder if holding kinda messed with Beebe a bit at WR. It's an additional thing on his plate and had to be a bit stressful. Meanwhile Colquitt is supposed to be VERY good at holding. It seems dumb we are even talking about this but it's obviously a real skill.

I pursued a few Reddit threads on Colquitt and Browns fans LOVED that guy. I mean 252 posts about punters?!?!? Not really knocking it but yeah. His stats don't really jump out but he was a alternate for the pro bowl last year and aren't those voted by someone other than fans? So really we likely got an average vet punter (depending on who you ask a good punter) at an area of need.

Now the Vikings have 2 vets as part of the specialists. Bailey and Colquitt can work things out with a rookie long snapper. That sounds actually reasonable. Also Wile has no guaranteed money so that helps.

They added McLaughlin (now we have 2 in Minny!!!) to the practice squad. He was perfect in his attempts in preseason and wile distance matters in that equation he creatures looked good against us the other night. The broadcast i watched was the Bills but they still talked the kid up a lot. I'm actually pretty pleased we got that guy on the PS.

So I'm feeling better (not content but better) about this aspect of the team. I still don't have full confidence in Bailey as the kicker but with a supposed very good holder that helps. Maybe Colquitt doesn't have great distance anymore (idk) but the guy has been doing it for a long time. He probably won't suck. Meanwile if Bailey sucks we have a guy ready to replace him. I found it amusing someone commented this weekend about how Bailey's leg was so weak he can't kick anything 50 yards or more. They must not have watched the last game with him easily drilling a 54 yard FG. Lol

Edit: One last thought. The Browns now have a rookie Punter and Kicker and a long snapper that's been there for a few seasons. Their ST coach? Mike Preifer. Their rookie punter never held before coming to the Browns. It might be interesting to see how that all works out.
