Kubiak retiring

Post by Wolvesfan21 »

So who are we going to get? Could make switching to a new QB this offseason more likely as well even though that's probably still slim.

It seems like a promotion from within is likely. I'm probably sort of ok with that actually but I also wonder if they bring in someone with a lot of experience to coach a position like they did with Shurmer. This OC job honestly SHOULD be REALLY appealing. If you fix the Oline some (or just one more reasonably talented guy gets added) and you get the most out of Cousins and all that talent at the skill positions you could be the next OC under Zimmer getting a shot at a HC job.

I think it's simply pretty unlikely they move on from Cousins. If the Eagles are still in on keeping Wentz IMHO it makes way more sense for the Vikings to stick with Cousins. Lol

Kubiak did retire after all.

More changes. We will need a new DB coach. I read a little and wow that LSU Bo Pelini D was really bad.

5 two have gotten head coaching jobs and 1 retired. Norv Turner isn't coaching anymore and Scott is the OC for WFT. Defillipo is the QB coach for the Bears. When Zimmer replaced OCs mid season the guys that were selected ended up getting head coaching jobs after the following full season.

I am kind of hoping they go with Klint for the job. It would basically be 3 years of the same for the most part. I am usually not a big fan of this generational thing, but if he can do it I would promote from within. I am still not a fan of the co-coordinators on defense.

It sounds like Klint is going to be the guy. They hired Keenan McCardell to be the WR coach which wasn't an open spot so that's another sign they are promoting from within. I'm ok with it for the same reasons you are. It's also worth saying that some of the generational guys are you know...pretty good at their jobs.

As for the co-defensive coordinator situation I simply can't judge that based on the defense from this season when the talent was so clearly lacking. It also felt like at times the defense was kinda sorta good enough to give the team chances to win which was really something considering the youth mixing talent and playing guys off the street etc. Obviously the defense was the team's downfall but again the lack of talent was a pretty big deal.

The thing is in Zimmer's case he is basically is the HC/DC. Now you have co-DC to boot with one being his son which just seems hookie. Not saying they did a bad job, but so strange.

I think the good generational coaches branch out after time to other people's staffs.
