Interesting moves. If sounds like Colquitt is a great holder. I am still worried about the kicking and return game. It will be interesting how the coverage teams are. It certainly will be something else to watch with the Browns. I think moving on from Mike Preifor was just timing more than anything. Time to move on for both parties. Someone was talking about how Zimmer is likely more of the problem with kickers then ST coaching.

Josh Docston. We got him. SB baby!!!
Who knows, maybe releasing the tread well bust for another bust could work out. Change of scenery. Might give him motivation he needs. I like the signing actually.

He's twice the receiver that Treadwell is... not that that is saying much.

They were in kinda different situations except their first years both guys were hurt. There are some real differences though. Doctson ran a 4.5 40 had a 41 inch very and a 130 broad jump. Those are really good numbers. Meanwhile Treadwell and Zylstra are just decent athletes that try hard. Doctson put up some intriguing numbers in his 2nd year with Cousins mostly 6 TDs. Then he played last year with like 5 QBs who combined for a grand total of 16 TDs. That's 1 per game folks. Doctson had 2 of them and was the 2nd leading receiver a bit behind Jordon Reid in receptions and yards. The production from that group reminds me of when Bobby Wade led the Vikings in receiving one year. Yikes! The Vikings are looking for something to add not some awesome dude. Doctson could be a bigger WR that's a downfield threat. If he could do that it would make things interesting because you can put Diggs or Thielen in the slot anytime you want. Treadwell is like a possession WR that you aren't sure can catch. Zylstra hadn't done a whole lot yet. Doctson might bring something like Adlrick Robinson did last year only he has theoretical upside and is much bigger. I'm certainly not saying this is an awesome no-brainer deal or anything but Doctson seems like an upgrade no matter how you cut it (I still had a bit of faith in Treadwell) and he actually compliments the other WRs better or adds a deep threat dimension. I won't be shocked if either Beebe or Bisi ends up getting snaps over him though.

I think that Beebe struggled in the slot in preseason, it would not surprise me to see Diggs or Thielen in the slot with Docston on the outside very soon. Maybe not week 1, but within a couple weeks. I think it would be better overall for the offense. Yes, Docston was not as big a bust as Treadwell. I was reading some posts from Skins fans and they are mostly happy he is gone though. They say he struggled in games, either getting separation or simply making catches. So we'll see. A fresh start might be good. plus he is on a 1 year deal so he needs to perform for another contract.

Looking at his stats I was wondering why he was gone. I am sure they got Cousins input on him before signing him. Redskins decided to go young at WR and Doctson is 26yo. He looks like a #3 WR for us.

There is a rumor that Jay Gruden wanted to cut AP. It will be interesting to see how he does playing a role. He isn't going to be getting a bulk of carries like he did last year if everyone is healthy.

AP as anything other than a feature back seems like a bad idea. I guess people can change though. He is pretty lucky to be in the league at this point.
Vikings cut Brett Jones to make room for Doctson.

Vikings make Josh Docston news official by releasing Brett Jones as the corresponding move on the 53. Feels like we're in the twilight zone compared to a yr ago w/ MIN believing it has enough depth on the interior of the OL to waive a player there to make room for someone else.

Why do the Vikings hate Brett Jones?!?! Lol
I was befuddled at this move initially. Here is where I am at after thinking it through. I believe most teams have 7 olineman active on game day right? If not this all breaks down somewhat. So you have your starters and 2 other guys. Rashod Hill is the backup tackle and then you have an interior guy that can also play at tackle. If Jones was on the roster he probably wasn't going to be active so they went with keeping young guys. I read Kline has taken preseason snaps at center in the past so he could help there in case of some sort of massive in game disaster. Meanwhile they have Collins down on the PS that they can call on if they have an injury. I would t be surprised if they told him to call them if another team offers him an NFL job. They don't have a C on their PS squad now. That may change. A fan also mentioned they could still bring back a jones at some point if he is available when they don't have to guaranteed his salary for the whole season. I believe there are some other vet replacement level guards that were cut over the weekend. I bet the Vikings tried to trade Jones and that's why it took a while for this to play out...or maybe Doctson needed to take a physical. Jones still seemed like an above average backup and the Vikings could end up missing that off they have injuries. Other than Bailey and Colquitt they have basically gone young or gone with young vets in their roster decisions. They have 10 out of 53 guys that are 22 or younger. Some core guys are getting up there...

Good points. Dakota Dozier played all over and was solid. Hill and him are the vet backups and we have some young development guys behind them. The only way this doesn't work out is if Bradbury gets hurt. Jones was our best backup.

The starters are certainly getting older. It will be interesting how many of the young guys develop. They need reps to keep the vets fresh. I am mostly worried about the DL.
