Looks like Riley Rieff might be back after giving him a 1MM bonus. Class act move by the Vikings.

I thought they would likely give him all or most of that bonus in some way. I thought maybe they would do it as part of a renegotiated contract that keeps him here for next season.

Side note: I thought all things considered Mike Remmers was not terrible (especially considering how he was previously destroyed by Von Miller as a RT) in the Super Bowl. Wylie on the other side was barely escorting his guy to the QB every couple plays. Mahomes clearly wasn't healthy and yet still made some unbelievable throws especially that last one.

Yeah Remmer should have never been asked to play RG here. He was a solidish RT.

JJ Watt asked to be released so he can have his dream of being Viking.

Kyle Rudolph was released. This is the first move. It's a sad day he was a good player, good person and easy to cheer for. This was the right move. What will be next?

I'm starting to think letting Barr go makes sense. I'd be happy to pay him the difference this year between his dead cap and his salary but next year maybe not and if you cut him next year that's basically paying him like 20 million for a season coming off and injury. The problem is they have like 1 good linebacker in Kendricks other than Barr. Rudolph was older and they had guys to replace him. Vikings may have to go value shopping at that position.

I would cut Barr too. I expect this to be our last year with Harrison Smith. Hopefully, it is not 1 year too long.

I hope Rudolph lands in a place that works. Packers should look at him.

The one thing about Barr is that I think he is more valuable than stats and fans think he is. Remember he is the guy that sets up the defense not Kendricks. There was a stat on Twitter than Eric Wilson's tackle miss percentage was 12.5 percent and Barr was 2.5. That's a worthwhile difference.

I think there is a chance Smith has 3 total more good years in him. I would not be upset if they gave him a 2 year extension for a reasonable amount of money especially if it lowered his cap number for this season. I don't want to put off all kinds of money for the next year but if this coming season is mostly "normal" I think the money is gonna really roll in.

Also there is a report that Hunter is perfectly happy with everything including his contract. Speilman said it but also Hunter's trainer who I definitely believe. Having a healthy Hunter and not having to up what we pay him is a pretty big deal. If he is back to his usual self that's going to be big for the whole defense.

There are a few TEs available including Jared Cook and I think one of the Ernz guys. Ben Watson is still around right? Lol jk but it feels like he could be.

I agree with how valuable Barr is, but think this team will overachieve to make the playoffs. I think Smith has 2 years tops and when he hits the wall it will be a big drop-off.

That is great news on Hunter. I would like to see this team bank some cap this year and carry money forward for a bounce back. I would have been in an all-out tank last year.

Bleed it's a odd year this is the bounce back year. Lol push all the cap space towards 2023!!! Lol

As for Smith...he could drop off or he could still be a good safety till he is 37. He hasn't really dropped off much yet and has stayed very healthy. The question for me is can they get him signed for a number that palatable enough to take the risk? What does that number look like? Idk

It's similar and very different situation they have with Reiff. He is ok but plays a premium position that is hard to replace. What kind of guaranteed money would Reiff settle for to get locked in for a couple more years? It would be great to draft a new LT and they were actually solid this season. That would save the team a bunch of money by cutting Reiff. Maybe they could use some of that money to sign a guard. The thing is based on one article I read there aren't many worthwhile guards to choose from especially when it comes to the zone blocking scheme it eliminates a couple guys that are solid.
