Gibson hitting 94? I swear he was only hitting 92 pre-surgery, but his ball had downward movement. Am I wrong on that? Did he pick up 2 mph or am I incorrect?

He was reported to be in the mid-90s early in his college career, but dropped down to below 90 as he began to develop arm issues. I remember him in the low 90s last year. At 6'6" and coming over the top, he's always had great downward movement.

Gibson was a top 10 pick till arm issues caused his velocity to go down, that's why he was a steal at the 22nd pick. People forget this guy was projected to be a #2 starter and rose through are system like it was nothing till he got hurt.

From Rhett Bollinger: "Pelfrey said improving his tempo is a focus of his this year. Took 24.6 seconds between pitches last year while his career average is 21.7"

25 seconds last year! I can only imagine how painful that is to watch live. I'd even be annoyed in the batter's box! Gahh, I hate Pelfrey.

I know you do, cam. but Rick Anderson said yesterday he looks as good already this spring as he did last mid-summer...and remember he had an ERA below 3.5 for July and August before tiring late in the year. He started out well this spring too with 2 scoreless innings against the Red Sox...just one hit.

I agree that Pelfrey has to pick up the pace a little, but 25 seconds doesn't even put him in the top 20 slowest pitchers. And just to put it in perspective, the entire Red Sox staff averages 23.3 seconds between pitches.

Some bad news coming out of Ft. Myers today...Sano tweaked his elbow on a throw to first and is going to have it examined.

I'm afraid I've seen this movie before, and wouldn't be surprised if he has to have Tommy John surgery. Frustrating, but he's still young and projects to be in the majors at an early age even if he has to miss a year with TJS. And Plouffie supposedly has looked good in the cage so far.

I'm excited to see what Arcia brings this year. He's looked good this spring. Last year he went from cold streak to hot streak and so forth. If he could get some consistency, he'd be a dangerous bat in the lineup. I expect him to have a good year. 280-ish average with 25 dingers.

Correia had three scoreless innings against the Jays. The Vanimal pitched three scoreless innings today. Good stuff.
