This is going to sound biased, but Aaron Hicks is the best defensive CF in baseball.
1.000 Fielding%
9 assists (MLB leader at CF, one behind CarGo for best in OF)
2 DPs (MLB leader at CF has 3)
Spectacular robberies night in and night out.
The guy has ALL the physical tools. Great routes to the ball. The only other guy you can argue is Carlos Gomez and I think Hicks has the better arm.
Any thoughts? Am I being too ridiculous here with my statement?

Not ridiculous at all, Cam. It will be a travesty if he doesn't get a gold glove this year. I was watching the Seattle feed tonight, and they were raving about his 7th inning catch. Total disregard for potential bodily harm as he lays himself out for another spectacular catch. I'm starting to take him for granted. A couple weeks ago, he had a similar diving attempt but couldn't hold on to the ball. I was shocked, because he ALWAYS makes the catch.
I teed this up before, but I'll try it again. I know Buxton is supposed to be a fabulous center fielder, but if Hicks can hit enough to stay in the lineup, I can't see Buxton replacing him in center. Buxton should start getting some innings at the corner outfield positions, because I think that's where he'll end up.

Ya know, I'm starting to lean that way as well. Buxton plays a hell of a CF himself, but man, Hicks is Gold Glove worthy already. I'd like to think we stick Buxton in RF and just lockdown the gaps. How lucky are we to have potentially two Gold Glove worthy CFs in one outfield?

Hicks plays a great center, but Buxton is even better. Saw him in Cedar Rapids for a couple of games. Everything he does looks smooth and natural.

I said that about a month ago that I thought Buxton was better, but I don't know if that's a clear cut observation. Hicks is a monster in CF.

I love Hicks, don't get me wrong. I love that Buxton seems intent on be up here soon too. If he keeps playing like he has, i could see him making an appearance sometime next year.
