Re: Week 3: Seahawks at Vikings
I was worried about the defense after the Seahawks were marching ups Nd down the field early but then they must have gotten it worked out. Heck of a win. That may have been the best running I've ever seen from Mattison.

Hasn't Mattison always been fairly solid-ish?
This would be a typical Minnesota sports fan thing to observe, but being 1-2 with the two losses by a cumulative point total of only two points doesn't seem so bad (?).

Agree on both points. Mattison has always been a reliable north/south backup, and while he's not Cook, he's a more than capable backup. And our Purple is 3-0 if not for two things...a bad fumble call, and a missed chip shot.
I'm not ignoring the issues with this team...our offensive and defensive lines are not showing up well in the stats. But meanwhile Cousins is looking like he's All-Pro. He now has thrown 8 TD passes without an interception, and only Matthew Stafford has a higher QBR after 3 games. He's getting just enough time by his below average offensive line, and he's showing that when given time, there are few QBs more accurate than he.
Not sure where this team is going, but they sure were outstanding yesterday.

May be the Vikes will have a season similar to the infamous 40-42 season the Wolves had in '13-14 where their "expected" win total was 48. This was the year where a bunch of close games slipped through our fingers. I think it was also the year of the famous "Doh! Ed Molloy!!!" call by Alan Horton.
Abe and others attributed that differential of expected vs. actual wins to not having good enough closers. I attributed it to incredibly bad luck....and Ed Molloy.

Starting PG and KEY player, Ricky Rubio, shot something like 29%* in the 4th quarters during that stretch. He scored fewer than 10 points* combined in 4th quarters during about a 6-week stretch* at one point.
His backup, JJ Barea, shot either slightly worse or slightly better.
That's not bad luck.
[Note: I've regurgitated this so many times that the stats are close even if they still require a * to offset slight inaccuracies.]
[Note/Note: Damn you, Q.]

Mattison has always been a good RB honesty probably a starting level player. I just thought yesterday he always got what was blocked for and more. I'm a big fan of him.
Like others have said this team is a couple things bouncing the right way and being 3-0. The Vikings other than struggling on D early they looked like a good team yesterday. They didn't make many mistakes and got the job done. They do still have some things to clean up and they need to make sure they aren't giving up field position on their KRs. Maybe the most encouraging thing about this game was that Kubiak seemed to really have the offense humming.

Great win. Didn't get to see or listen to a second of it due to it being an awesome day to be on the river.
Sounds like the OL is playing great and the defense figured it out in the second half. We are only 1 back in the division which is really the most important thing and very close to being tied.

I started watching the Packers Niners game on the last drive for the 49ers. Thought we might be tied for the division after that drive...but then Rodgers makes a couple throws to Adam's and Crosby nails the FG to win it. Heck of a game and I only watched a few minutes.
