I had no idea who Hentges was. The data side of football is about where auto racing was 20 years ago. I should have taken that knowledge and tried to apply it to football. I did play with it with my stepkids when they did downhill skiing and it was interesting to look at different speeds, lines, and what was working vs not.
Technology probably makes some of these ideas more accessible/feasible than say 20 years ago.
Certainly. Back then you could get a good GPS module and iPaq pretty cheap to capture data, but you had to be resourceful to get value out of it. Today's systems are just as cheap, but hook into OBD2 and you can add in so much data that your car is collecting while integrating it with video.
Did you see Isaiah Wilson got let go by the Dolphins? I guess he didn't show up to a few things he was supposed to and they moved on. There aren't many 1st round picks that were dumped that quickly...by 2 different teams. He hasn't even been in the league an entire year he was drafted April 23 2020.

I saw that. I hope he gets some help. The Dolphins head coach was close with his high school team so it is sad he couldn't make that work.
We all fumble opportunities, but not in such a public and epic manner.
It's looking more and more like there will be a big run on Qbs and Wrs early in this draft.
This is a really good thing for the Vikes. Should have multiple Olinemen or DEs to choose from at their pick.

The Vikings need to get 2 OL in the first 2 days of the draft this year. This is supposed to be a strong draft class.

I'm a little concerned they take the Michigan DE which I've seen some mocks have us taking. Guys who don't have strong production in the college game not to often end up being stars in the NFL. He scares me with his lack of sacks. You couldn't get sacks against college tackles and now you want to beat Pro ones? Just seems to obvious to me that the scouts are seeing stuff and hyping a guy more then they are worth.
I think with a mid 1st you want someone who looks like they will be a Pro Bowler. If a WR drops or CB we could even go that route. But sure we are desperate need of help on both fronts of the ball. You must win up front in the NFL. Continuing to shove out bottom ten OLines has been a problem for a long time.
21 - I have heard this is a weak class for Edge rushers. I hope we have a tier system and should draft based on best fit within a tier. If a WR or CB is the highest tier player available draft them. The Moss and Peterson picks are one of the best drafts in Vikings' history and not needs.

I agree that you don't have to draft for need as it can get you in trouble. But you do need to consider it of course as well. If you have Patrick Mahomes, it would be really stupid to draft a QB in the 1st round.
I think that you need to consider at what positions could you upgrade and plan for the longer term. If a QB drops to us, we would be foolish not to consider one, since Cousins isn't signed long term for instance.
Certain positions I would completely avoid like RB, not that any are that highly touted, we just have a guy there and our needs at other spots surpass any unlikely potential upgrade over Cook.

I still remember Underwood who I'm pretty sure never made it out of camp due to his mental illness.

I was trying to remember who that was. I was trying to remember his name.
