Reiff has 5 million guaranteed March 16 so we should know what direction they are going to go with him in a few days.

We are keeping Reiff unless we are getting Beaver back.

Odenigbo needs over 2 million tender to keep him as a RFA. Would you do that? I probably would but he wasn't that impressive last year it's not a no-brainer for me and I like him.

Boone also needs to be at that number to keep him as a RFA. He has a lot of value but idk if I pay him that much to be a 3rd RB. Idk how other teams value him. No idea if a team would through a couple million at him to be their primary backup or more of a 3rd guy that gets regular snaps.

Yes - Odenigbo
No - Boone

I like both, but RB is hard to replace. Odenigbo could be a rotational piece at DE and DT. If he is starting we are in trouble.

Bailey let go so it looks like the K job is Greg Joseph's to lose. This is another cut because of what a guy will cost next year as much as this year. Bailey's salary next year was over 4 million with a million guaranteed. At this point I'm assuming Colquitt will be next. They will save a little more by cutting him. Will they start over with a whole new group? Austin Cutting isn't on the roster they still have that vet guy they picked up mid season.

I don't feel super confident in Greg Joseph but I also think he might be plenty solid for a guy on a vet min contract. It seems like a couple times he has gotten let go by teams only because they thought they had a much better option not because he sucked. Plus he brings that Championship pedigree from Tampa. Lol

I feel like the most depressing news of the day is the Vikes getting a 4th and 6th in compensatory picks. Everything I read said it would be a 3rd and 6th, and I got to think they were counting on that as well.

Prediction: THREE trades down of their first round pick and ending up somewhere around 35th, picking up two seconds and a fourth.

The more recent predictions had them getting a 4th instead of that 3rd. I don't remember what the charge would be unless they somehow calculate Waynes being injured or maybe someone signed late that wasn't in the earlier predictions before the season started. The good news is the Vikings do have a nice bevy of picks in the first 4 rounds and can likely move around the draft board and help make up for the fact that they don't have a 2nd. The Vikings do need to hit on a couple guys that can help sooner rather than later.

Reiff released so now the Vikings need a LT or Cleveland will be that guy. They also gave themselves some room with at least 11 million in savings from letting go of Reiff. That means they may be able to keep someone decent or sign a moderate priced FA. It will be interesting to see how much Reiff gets in FA. I kinda hate to see him go for a few reasons but if they would have had to play him quite a bit beyond this year letting him go might be smart. If he reverts back to being more along the lines of just adequate then it may not be money well spent. Another factor is keeping Rashod Hill cheap makes him a little more valuable and keeping him as a vet swing tackle probably offers more value too.

Colquitt restructured so he is getting the vet min this year. That's probably a solid move for him because I'm not sure he would get a job if he was let go. That's another 1.4 million in savings. I am sure they will bring in a kicker and punter as well and a younger long snapper for competition. It might be good to have at least one vet specialist stick and Colquitt might the the best option. Hopefully the other parts of the Special teams units are better this coming season. They were pretty bad for at least the first half of the season.

Well it seems likely something is going on. What? Idk

My stance is similar to what it's been for a few years and the same as it was for Diggs...if the Vikings trade another fairly young talented player it's because they basically had to and got a good return for them as well. I don't want to trade hunter but the return for him might be something equivalent to two first round picks (maybe more) and some cap saving going forward. Imagine the cap situation the Vikings would be in right now if they were still paying Diggs to be on the roster. Yes the draft picks the Vikings get could turn out to be duds or just the next Trey Waynes solid type guys but valuable players but again some legit cap space for a couple years is a lot of value too. One thing Spielman has been able to do is get value for young talented players. I feel confident in the initial return received back if Hunter is dealt.

Ultimately I haven't done enough research into this draft to get super excited about having more picks this year to make but there are a lot of directions they could go to fill holes. I could also see them receiving a conditional 2022 pick that turns into a 1st round pick if Hunter makes the pro bowl has 12+ sacks or whatever.

Trading Hunter which would open up some cap space might make it easier to keep Barr which might not inspire great rejoicing from Vikings fans but it would keep a likely pretty good player on the roster and at a spot where they really need someone.
