Cousins for as much crap as he gets from this board at times, even more so in the National media, has been pretty dang good. Also consider the OLine rankings, which were very poor. If we had a good Oline? Imagine the attack we could have!
Exactly - Exhibit A - Mark Rypien 1991 (that team was crazy good)
You can win a SB with Cousins. But we also need a top defense and better Oline. We got WR's and a RB, we are lacking seriously in the other areas where not so great QB's have succeeded. Dilfer, Johnson, Rypien, Hostetler, Eli Manning twice. Nick Foles. I'm missing a bunch others.
Which reminds me I saw Gladney was arrested a couple days ago.
What about Doug Williams the first former TB QB to go on and win a Superbowl for another team? I just read part of his Wikipedia page. There was some stuff about his pro playing career I had not known before.

I think some of it is simply because that franchise has not been good for a lot of the past 20 or so years. They were also not flashy the oline was the thing that was the star for a couple of their championships and of course Joe Gibbs was a good coach. I don't think Gibbs had an amazing coaching tree though like Parcells or Walsh which is another thing that doesn't keep it at the forefront of people's minds. Some of the other franchises that were good during that era like the Giants and 49ers and Broncos had their own more recent success which helps keep the memory of their past alive.
Joe Gibbs also has Nascar though too! I hadn't looked up what level of success he has been as an owner but yeah that's pretty good. How many guys up being a HOFer in 2 sports?
It might be that or that they were not a media darling. Nobody on that team drew in the media. Darrell Green was one of the best on that team and nobody ever talks about him.
Back to the draft. KFAN was talking about if one of the top 5 QBs falls to the Vikings at #14 we should take him. I wouldn't touch Fields or Jones in the top 20. I think Lawerence and Wilson are good prospects and clear 1 & 2. Trey Lance is my third guy and if he was there at #14 we have to take him, but don't think it will happen.

It's not going to happen.
Just for fun let's try on this for instance...if you traded down and a QB was still there would you pick one then? Honestly I do not think I would pick anyone I actually think would be available.

I agree, if your going to pay Cousins all this money then you best protect him and the best way to do that without spending a ton of money is getting a top prospect in the draft. Slater or Tucker is who I have my eyes on!

A good LT in round 1 would be VERY good for this team. Right now it's the biggest hole to fill on the roster. Cleveland could fill one of the guard spots and I feel like a decent guard can still be added via FA. I would love to know what they really think about Cleveland at this point.
This offense with a top 10 pass-blocking OL would be very dangerous. I wonder if the Vikings consider Cleveland a tackle or guard at this point. If they draft Slater or Tucker I think he needs to play tackle. Rashod Hill has not shown the ability as a starter.

I'd take an oline ranked 16th in pass blocking. Lol
