Anyone that doesn't suck and is healthy would certainly help. :) I would hope he is playing well the guy signed a 5 year 58 million contract which sounds like a lot of money for a guard.
The good news is for the oline is they were not horrible against Detroit. Sure a couple short yardage spots they didn't come through and they weren't great overall and the running game was pretty meh but they did enough to win the game and it was a somewhat encouraging performance.
I thought Osemele got overpaid and we tried to get him, but he would have been a much better signing then Boone. He would have been insurance for Kalil getting hurt or leaving as a free agent.

Is he worth twice as much as Boone? Maybe. I don't think we know how good Boone is or isn't right now. Keep in mind too he has only played a full season once his rookie year.
I think Osemele got paid, but it is working out so far for Raiders. He might be performing better because he is part of a good line too.
I just think it is interesting looking at FA signings and how they worked out. Doesn't look easy to get a quick fix in FA along the front line. If you do you are going to pay a premium.

Yes and there are some guys that haven't worked out so well that weren't cheap. Boone is a mixed bag himself (at best).
It just hit me this afternoon all this bringing in kickers is a brilliant move to distract from all the other problems this team has. ;)
Edit:
Also MAYBE...IF AP comes back next year the team could implore him to take less money to put some real dollars towards at least one legit olineman. Yeah I know it doesn't seem all that likely to happen.
Jake Long done for the season with an Achilles injury. Boone said he and Sparano will be talking about where he is going to play. Boone said him playing LT is an option. At this point it probably makes sense. Sirles at LG and keeping Clemmings at RT makes about as much sense as anything.
Can they just forfeit all remaining games rather than watch the rest of the roster go down with serious injury? I just don't see any avenue towards solid play and even if they somehow eek out a playoff birth it will be short lived. I don't know what their cap situation is, but this offseason they clearly have to part ways with Peterson in order to pursue a few quality linemen.
