A while back, someone started a thread on the Mild section of this board about how Mike Modano embarrassed M/SP with some comments he made in his early 20's and needed to be shunned. To that person I respond "Oh, you need to stay as far away from the Twins as you possibly can".
Year-for-year and pound-for-pound, there has no richer Minnesota vein of fully-formed-adult off-the-field embarrassment than the Twins. One owner making obviously bigoted statements and then saying the only person offended was a reporter (My parents told me that story long ago). Another owner making fake commercials about how he can no longer help sick kids because MN won't build him a stadium, then telling CHAR that he'll move there if they build him one, and they collectively saying "No thanks." A pitcher/announcer who curses and or uses crude hand gestures at a junior-high rate. A pitcher/announcer who flashed female reporters and literally has fought with half his teammates (to which he always says he can't remember, and judging by the gin blossom in the middle of his face, I believe him). And last but not least, the player/announcer/manager/SerialPhilanderer/BuggerSugarAddict who cursed out his former agent for including in his book the time the DEA knocked down the agent's door, with his young son home (if you don't know who the agent is, google it, and if you can't figure out who the son was, you either aren't from MN or not very bright) looking for said player and his microwave-sized brick of buggersugar.
Kind of makes the time a 23 year old got upset about having to move to Dallas seem kind of minor.

Saw in the Stribe the Carew spoke about Calvin and said he wasn't a racist. He said before he was traded I'm sending you to the Angles can they can pay you what your worth. If he was racist he wouldve never done that for me.
I dont support anything with what Calvin said but getting rid of statues is a slippery slope. Why does Calvin statue get taken down but Kirby Puckett is up and hes a wife beater? I've always had the philosphy you can be a great baseball player and terrible person. That's what Kirby is to me now that I'm older. When does it stop have you gone back and watch Friends they say Thats Gay or I'm not Gay all the time on there. It was #1 comedy for years. Ugh I'm all upset and I dont know what the right answer is.
