But Rocco's decision to finally bat Arraez and Kepler in the right spots paid off, as Luis had 4 hits and scored the winning run after leading off the 9th with a single, and Kepler eventually drove him in. Sano showed some signs of life with a couple walks and a HR...hopefully that wakes him up. At least he got his batting average back to three digits. On to LA with Buxton and Donaldson likely healthy (nice to have then in the lineup with all the lefties they'll throw at us), but anti-vaxxer Simmons ironically out with Covid,
Apparently Sano's confidence wasn't shattered by that pinch hitting spot he was put in. LoL
Yep, he's on a roll now. He's got his batting average back to .100...I predict it might be as high as .125 by the 4th of July!
Sano is also on pace to walk over 100 times which made me curious and I found the article below. It might be a little optimistic but there is some interesting numbers to consider.

Really interesting article, monster. I actually look at it as a mix of good news and bad news. I've commented before how impressed I was with Sano's pitch recognition and ability to lay off bad pitches his rookie season, but since then he seems to have lost what he had that first season. But even with his horrible results this season, I've noticed what this article points out...Miguel is not swinging as often at bad pitches and is getting more walks. That's the good news. But the bad news is he is missing pitches he used to hammer. The article describes it as "just missing", but I'm not that optimistic...when you're "just missing" pitches that are obvious mistakes, that's not good. I keep reflecting back to Reusse's observation during spring training that Miguel was missing fast balls that he used to pulverize, and unfortunately things have not improved during the regular season. So mixed news here...his recognition seems to be much improved, but there is something wrong with his timing. Let's hope he figures it out, because we need his big bat in the middle of the lineup.

I agree with your take here and as someone who only watched extended highlights obviously I'm not watching his ABs. It's also worth considering that his best batting average over a season is .269 so it's his OBP and slugging that brings value. His slugging is BAAAAAD right now but his OBP is .270 which means he is a couple good games away from being not terrible in that regard. The walls help a little with that slugging percentage. If Sano hasn't somehow lost it (I guess possible) then he is going to end up bouncing back and looking pretty decent for a stretch even if he finishes the year as a below average one. It would be nice to see him figure it all out but at this point I'm just hoping for reasonable success throughout the rest of his contract and then someone else is ready to take over his spot or we just keep signing Nelson Cruz to 1 year deals till he is 56. Lol
