The news that KAT's infection has him at 231 pounds (down 19 from his listed 250) is not good, and made me reassess my wins prediction total. But the Wolves' October schedule is so soft, my hope is that KAT will be back in shape by the time we start playing teams other than bottom feeders. Look at October...6 of our 7 games are against the Spurs, Jazz and Thunder, teams that Vegas has winning fewer than 25 games this season!. The Wolves are good enough to beat these teams even if KAT is far from game shape. I think we're better than the Lakers (our opponent on 10/28), but they will be a challenge if they are healthy and KAT is still recovering. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but with KAT or without, we should be favored in our first 7 games...doesn't mean we'll be 7-0, but I'm reasonably confident we'll be favored in every October game.

FWIW based on some of the pics I saw this offseason I would not be surprised if Towns had already trimmed down a few pounds before the infection.

I hadn't thought of that, monster, but that would be a better fact pattern. I think it would be logical to think KAT would want to be slimmer and quicker now that he doesn't have to bang against centers, but instead has to chase a few PFs around the perimeter. Thanks for that take. I'm going to assume KAT dropped 10 on his own, and only another 10 with his infection. I know he and Rudy aren't playing tonight, but let's hope for a quick recovery for KAT.

I think it was Dane Moore who said Karl-Anthony Towns lost roughly 20-pounds due to a combination of his off-season workout program and this recent illness he's been recovering from. I'd expect the focus for him was to get lighter, quicker, and more agile to assist him with playing the four on a more regular basis.

Furthermore, body weight can fluctuate up to about 10-pounds per day depending on food, fluid, and sodium consumed as well as urination and bowel movements. Considering he was just sick I would speculate that after a week of normal functions he'll be closer to that 235-240 mark, which is about where he needs to be.
