A must watch thread about how the scorekeeper in Memphis is fraudulently adding stats to JJJ to have him win DPOY. (Who knows if he has money on it or not)

So... Jaren Jackson, had 2 blocks and 2 steals last night. He's right in the running for DPOY. But... should we be looking closer at it...

Some online sleuths have been doing some heavy lifting apparently...

- He's averaging 4.1 blocks and 1.4 steals at home in 26.8 mpg.
- He's averaging 2.2 blocks and 0.7 steals on the road in 26.2 mpg.

And there are many clips with links to the "official" stat for the play. Many are pretty egregious.

Big deal? Sure. We all know the books have been cooked to some degree for stars at home (see assist leaders for years). BUT... as those sleuths point out, there is legit money riding on this stuff now as the NBA and sports betting is much more closely connected. Jackson's DPOY odds went down significantly before the season because of his injury. He's the runaway favorite for the award right now.

Should he win DPOY, a few people are going to make some legit money if they picked him. Or, if they've been betting the over for Jackson's blocks and steals in home games.

Is there something to see here... or is it just a coincidence... or even too much info/stats is a bad thing?

[Note: No other DPOY candidate has anything remotely close to that sort of split... nor has Jackson in other seasons.]

I think triple J has had the benefit of a small league. Every time we play them he looks overmatched with size. I personally dont get the hype but the Grizzles keep winning so good on him I guess. Whenever we play their team Brooks and Bane scare me on both sides of the ball a hell of a lot more than triple J.

I have to admit that home-away split stuff for JJJ is intriguing, and there might be some monkey business happening with the stats. But more likely is the fact that Memphis, and JJJ, simply play much better at home than on the road. Case in point: they are the best home team in the NBA with a 20-3 record, but not very good on the road at 11-15.

I agree. There's no mystery here. By the way, 2.2 blocks per game is damn good, road, home or combined! I wish Rudy averaged close to that this season at home, on the road or at least in Sundays.

Yes... 2.2 blocks per 26.8 minutes is very good. He's good on defense wherever he plays.

Jackson is averaging 4.1 blocks in only 26.1 minutes at home... which is bordering on historically good/unprecedented/ridiculous/fishy.

If Bucks don't blow their lead to the Pels, the Wolves will finish the night in 5th place in the West. Wolves should be licking their chops to sink their teeth into a HCA spot and rip it away from the competition. Every time I get my expectations up I get my heart stepped on. We fans are due for the opposite to happen.

All the teams around us will be doing well just to play .500 ball over the next week. If the Wolves keep their home winning streak going, they should be sitting in the 3rd spot with a game or two cushion.

But as you said, as soon as I start looking ahead at the possibilities, the Wolves throw a wrench into the plans...

Well, the Bucks didn't blow their lead and the Wolves are now in sole possession of 5th place. The Wolves need to win these next two games to start making me a believer.

As I roasted this Wolves team early in the year for being flawed, you have to give credit when they start to turn it around and it appears ANT may be taking that next step up in becoming great. They are starting to overcome flaws that were previously there, K. Anderson has had a significant positive impact on these young players. I am starting to think just maybe they make a move or two, get healthy and maybe KAT being out was a good thing if it leads to ANT becoming the teams top option and best player. Still not fond of the overpay for Rudy trade but maybe they are turning the corner. Questions remain can Rudy & KAT as PF/C combo work?
