I agree with Lip that Knight will never play meaningful minutes for an NBA team...he has some talent, but he's a clown. I love hearing the Garza reports though. Naz has been terrific this season...his footwork on offense keeps getting better, and with him improved quickness on defense, he currently has the third best net rating on the team (behind Rudy and SloMo). Ideally we will be able to re-sign him at a reasonable price and only need Garza if one or more of our bigs get hurt. But if Naz prices himself out of our range, it sounds like Garza could be a nice fallback.

Amusingly Knight has already played some meaningful minutes for 2 playoff teams.

Maybe, but he shot 37% for the season with one of those teams and was promptly released. Monster, I guarantee you would see what Lip and I see if you attended a game. One of the things I like about DLo is his focus in the pre-game and halftime shootaround...he wastes no time and always focuses on things he is going to use in a game. Knight on the other hand works on things like half court shots and high-arcing shots from out of bounds behind the basket...Finchie will definitely put him in if either of those skills is needed in a game! And he is constantly yukking it up on the bench, even if we're down 20. He's got to go.

You know who clowns around before games? Steph Curry. Warriors should move on from that guy. Of course I am joking but the idea that a guy sucks because he has fun before games is a bad take also. The coaching staff according to all the reporting I've ever heard clearly likes Knight. Also Knight doesn't clown around when he is actually in the games. Dude looks pretty intense on the court to me.

Well, it's one thing for a future hall-of-famer to clown around before games and quite another for a guy who is barely able to make an NBA roster. Also, Curry doesn't clown around in games when his team is down by 20 and fighting to come back. That's the real and meaningful difference beyond the obvious gigantic difference between these two players. And that's what makes Knight a bad seed who will never amount to anything as a player. Yes, the coaching staff appears to like Knight and I get that based on his talent. But we'll see how much they like him by the end of the season. Eventually character overtakes and eclipses talent.

Come to think of it, I don't know that I have ever seen Steph Curry and Nathan Wright together...are we certain they're not the same person ;) .

This is basically the same coaching staff that spent plenty of time working with Knight a guy who was in MN most of the offseason working on his game and it seems many in the organization including the coach staff wanted Knight back and the Wolves gave him a multi year NBA deal when many on this board didn't even want to retain him on a 2-way deal. I get where you and FNG are coming from but IMO if the coaching staff were annoyed with the way Knight handles himself he simply wouldn't be here.

Garza, Mudiay, Moore Jr. and Minot all doing very well. It's always fun to hope some of those guys could contribute if needed.

It certainly happened a couple of years ago when we had McLaughlin, Nowell, Reid, and later Vanderbilt down there playing. All those guys contributed to a winning team last year and are all in a regular NBA rotation this year.

Mudiay is a bit different of course since he's trying to resurrect his NBA career whereas the others are trying to grow into one.

One thing you notice about Mudiay is he is pretty damn big and strong for a PG. Otherwise, he's just looked "solid" to me. I realize his advanced stats down there are pretty good, but I haven't seen anything from him that screams out "he needs to be back in the NBA ASAP!". The key is his outside shot. Kind of a game changer if he can hit the 3-ball at a 35%-plus rate over a sustained period of time....sustained being the operative word.

The thing about Garza is that if his outside shot is for real, he would be a really good partner with KAT and Ant when Gobert takes a seat. Now you can REALLY play 5-out basketball and spread the floor out like crazy without giving up a ton of size. Defense on the other hand.....

Let's hope you're right on this one, monster...it would be good for our big man depth. But until then, Nathan will continue to be my first pick in the H-O-R-S-E draft...nobody has worked so diligently to perfect that shot from behind the backboard!

I'm doing this just for fun...call it fun facts. Knight would have been part of the 2020 draft class (same year as Edwards). Here's how he stacks up against the first big off the board so far in their careers:

The Iowa team remains undefeated at home with another win earlier today. Once again, Luka Garza just dominated proceedings with 30/12/5 on only 14 shots. The guy is just a machine out there. Other observations....

- I know some guys want to keep a close eye on Mudiay in the event we trade DLO at some point and we need another PG on the roster. His issue will always be his shot, as he has a hitch in his in his release where it looks like he rises up and then flicks the ball with his wrist. He went 1-10 and 0-5 on 3s, but otherwise had 7 boards and 11 assists.

- Moore Jr. once again had a quietly effective night. He was 4-11 from the field but added 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and did make 3-7 of his 3's. He was tied for the team lead in +/- at +23.

- Josh Minott looked solid once again with 17 points on 12 shots and 9 rebounds. He has some wiggle when he puts the ball on the floor and goes to the hoop. Definitely a step quicker and shiftier than McDaniels or Prince on offense when putting the ball on the floor. His hands aren't great though, so sometimes he fumbles it away.

- And finally there is Garza. When he isn't scoring, he is constantly up top setting screens, moving without the ball, doing dribble hand offs, or passing out of the post. He really is a mini-Jokic in the way that he is the fulcrum of the offense when he's on the floor. Moore Jr. and him had a couple of really nice PnRs where Moore found him with a couple of pocket passes. Later in the game he did more pick and pop, so he is capable of rolling or popping and being dangerous in either action.

Overall I was really impressed with the way the team moves the ball around on offense and makes decisive plays. I can tell you that they are ahead of the big league team in terms of playing the way Finch would like to see his squad playing. Lots of ball and player movement and very little ball-stopping. Get this...they had 40 ASSISTS tonight on 44 made baskets. Think about that!
