Look what trading away Kyrie did for Cam Thomas!!! Lol
In Dane's twitter feed he referred to an answer Nowell gave recently on his shooting slump and that in practice recently Kyle and the coaches noticed he wasn't holding his shot form long enough. May be that one little tweak did the trick???
But the more I think about it, the angrier I get. With all the battery of coaches and specialists teams employ these days, including the Wolves, it took them THIS effing long to figure out that Nowell's epic shooting slump was because he wasn't following through all the way!?!?

Garza really worked him. Although Minott had a couple of million-dollar-move-10-cent-finish plays out there where Kessler easily swatted away his shot. All in all though, he didn't impact the game much thankfully.

I saw that Nowell quote too, Q, and kind of chuckled. Maybe last night was because of the tweak, and maybe last night was because the tweak made him more confident...so much of shooting is in the head. Who knows? I just hope it's somewhat sustainable.

It's just odd to me that if that is truly the issue, how on earth do they not discover that earlier? I mean, Nowell was a very good shooter last year and was a great shooter in college and the G-League. Then he suddenly falls off by 10+% despite having a well defined role and steady minutes??? It just didn't make sense to me. You'd think we would have a player development specialist pouring over game tape and watching him in practice weeks ago to help troubleshoot the issue!

This coaching staff can't get the players to block out on a consistent basis!
I'm only 5 minutes into the replay, but how about that Conley-less Jazz defense! I think we could assemble 5 studs from this forum and put up 100 on them! I'm trying to decide if their rotations or their on-ball is worse, and right now it's a tossup!
OK, I've seen enough. We're not going to shoot 53.5% on threes very often, but NBA players will usually make wide open threes, and those are the most wide open threes I've seen all season! Good job knocking them down though.
First time I've seen Minott. He's clearly a project, but he's long, fast and bouncy, and can really run the court (well, at least against a seemingly depressed Utah defense). I'm joining the "hmmm...maybe we've got something here" club.
Fun game for us, not so much for Utah. We got the 1-1 we needed on the mile high BTB. I have to admit I'm not confident going into Memphis and Dallas. Another 1-1 would be terrific, but it's gonna be tough.

I had seen the tweet from Dane before watching the game so I watched Nowell somewhat closely when I went back and watched the game. I don't know if he was really following through on his shot or not. It's something to watch. It does make sense though Nowell this season has a quick trigger it's likely something he worked on in the offseason. There is value in being able to get a shot up quicker he'll doing everything quicker but it's also not always easy to do. Part of what made Nowell good was his ability to not be in a hurry. This year he has gone 150mpg which in some cases is good (flying to the ball and attacking in the open floor) but other stuff maybe not so much. Maybe having Conley around can help him out in some ways. I've been the hot potato shooter at times and I've seen other guys I play with do it and mention it to them that they need to follow through more. I'm not holding out a ton of hope for Nowell turing things around but I have some. I like that they have another option now in NAW both this year and possibly beyond.
