Minnesota is sending its 2023, 2025 and 2027 picks unprotected and a top-5 protected 2029 pick to Utah, sources tell ESPN.

This may end up being worse than the Nets trade with Boston.

Actually, I think that would be hilarious. Maybe KAT gets injured too.

Jon Krawczynski:

The picks going to Utah, per sources: unprotected 1sts in 23, 25, 27, a swap in '26 and a top 5 protected in '29

You have to pay to get top players in today's league, but holy shit this is a lot to give up.

For the record, I would NOT have made this trade. For Tim Connelly's sake, I hope the Timberwolves win a championship in the next half-decade. This is the definition of an all-in move.

Twolves are more likely to move out of Minny than win a title by 2029 if this trade goes south as I think it might. Jaden might like Seattle.

D'Angelo Russell and Rudy Gobert in the pick-and-roll will be fun too.

DLo/JMac
Ant/Nowell/Moore
McD/Prince/Minott
KAT/SloMo
Rudy/Naz

Let's see what vets want to fill out the roster

For the record, I hate this trade, hated Butler trade and hated DLo trade. This might even be the worst one of the bunch. What the fkk happened to "no shortcuts." Timmy getting paid $8 million to make garbage trades like this. Geez, I might be done with this team as I don't think I'll ever live to see them win anything. Go Warriors!

Yeah, that really looks like a pretty deep rotation. And you could even throw Nathan Knight on that list.

Minnesota is now $6-million below the luxury tax threshold with 12 players on the roster.

Ironically, this year's Timberwolves team is easily the best accumulation of talent in the franchise's history. Maybe don't jump off the wagon yet.

Navigating the salary cap will certainly be problematic in the future, and dealing four first-round picks -- five, if you include Walker Kessler -- isn't easy to accept, but they're a top-four team in the Western Conference right now. Let's see what happens.
