McHale said you only need a 1st round pick every other year, so...
Watching how we manage future drafts and the salary cap will be a fun exercise. But the team we put on the floor this year could be pretty awesome.

Dont like the trade but this them saying McDaniels and Ant are ready for the next step.
They believe they have 4/5 starters for next 4 years.
What do they do about the PG position now can they even sign Dlo to and extension.
Also the new owners might not give two shits going into the luxury tax

Re: Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves
I guess on the bright side we didn't give up any players that our going to hurt us. As long as they don't extend DLo, I can get on board. We are a contender now. Love that Jaden is still here.
Re: Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves
One concern I had on acquiring Gobert is Kessler's 4 years would be up by the time Gobert's contract runs out. I guess that is not a problem now!
I wonder if Kessler was a target in anticipation of including him in a trade for Gobert -- an heir apparent for Utah...

This is a 60+ win squad.
I'm sorry to break ranks here, but I love this deal.

- My feeling is that Minnesota decided to include more draft capital in order to keep Jaden McDaniels out of the package. For instance, if he was included, I'd wager that we'd only be sending two or three first-round picks. Their belief in him is incredibly apparent.
- Yeah, they're locked into this group for the foreseeable future.
- D'Angelo Russell is (and has been) valuable to the Timberwolves, arguably more so now than before. I don't think it's by accident that he wasn't included in this trade. Shot creation matters.
- Tim Connelly is all in. Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez are all in. The Timberwolves are a championship contender the next couple of years if things strike right. I think they'll be willing to exceed the luxury tax threshold.

How can you love trading 5 draft picks for Rudy Gobert? forget the rest, that alone is atrocious lol.
Kessler, Bev, Beas and 23/25 picks and I'd have been like ok I get it, but Gobert is and never will be a guy worth 5 firsts. We're talking top premo superstar return here.

As usual you're wrong about DLO, but you are spot on about McDaniels being kept out. It shows a tremendous amount of optimism regarding him and I think it's great. We are going to win a lot of games and it is going to be fun to be a Wolves fan again. The only negative is the constant DLO nutsucking we are going to have to continue to read from you. We all know how you feel about him (1 million times over), can you do us a favor and impose a DLO moratorium on yourself? The board would be so much more enjoyable.
Re: Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves
First of all I would not have done this trade. It's a ton to give up. I'm gonna break down the pieces and try and make some sense of it.
1. Beasley and Beverly
These guys were unlikely to be long term pieces on the Wolves. Beverly was unlikely to be moved because of his value to the team so a year from now he would be a FA and we would need to figure out what to do with him. Beasley was basically a worthwhile player that was considered by most of this board to be a guy we could move for another front court player. The short story is while both of these guys have value they weren't long term players for the Wolves.
2. Vanderbilt. Cheap very good role player but may be nearing his max value as a player already. He is still young and still relatively inexperienced but the reality is it's unlikely he finds some part of his game that keeps him on the floor for 30mpg. Plus he has injury history. He is signed cheap for 2 more years then what? Ideally someone else like Minnot would be ready to take his place. I guess now we have Anderson. Anyway Vanderbilt is a guy that certainly could have stuck around long term as a really good rotation guy but his flaws mean you have to kinda plan around what he can't do.
3. Bolmaro. I'm a big fan of his but what will he be? There is plenty of uncertainty about that. Will we have given up a really good role player on the good side of fringe starter, something more, or just a decent player or maybe he sucks. I would have liked him to stick around to find out but basically he is sorta like a first round pick in terms of uncertainty with a beauty of the beholder in how much you may like him or not.
4. First round picks. I don't think there is much to discuss here.
5. Cap space financial flexibility. Basically the Wolves don't have any chances to add players via FA via anything more than the mid-level for the foreseeable future. If Gobert stays healthy and plays well this doesn't bother me that much.
One thing the Wolves did is they didn't give up anyone they likely wanted long term other than maybe Kessler but obviously with Gobert added they didn't need him. McDaniels was kept.
Other questions to ask:
Does Russell fit better now with Gobert here? Other teams have been loading up on shot creators. With Gobert at C maybe having another guard like Russell makes sense.
Who else can the Wolves bring in to fill out the roster? Can they find value in some guys?
Ok that's all for now.

This is pretty much how I feel on all four points as well. Hopefully Connelly made the right call. If he is wrong its hard to get the spot of biggest blunder in T-Wolves history.
My other point for the trade. Think of the production out of the 4 spot I know Kat will shift over but were talking about estianlly upgrading Vando, Prince and KAT to KAT, Anderson and Gobert. That's a pretty extreme leap in production.
Also most of us feel that Nowell is Parallels move with Beasley
I don't know how I feel about the loss of Pat Bev because I feel Jmac is the better PG
